It was a late December night. My five year old sister lux, and I were laying in my bed while watching frozen trying to block out the screaming voices coming from our parents. After twenty minutes we could hear stomping foot steps coming up the stairs. I could feel lux bury her small head under my arm and I could feel her sniff every once in awhile and as she quietly as possible she cries knowing she wouldn't want father to hear her and do the unthinkable to a five year old. Lux squeezes my shirt even tighter than she already was which made her tiny hands turn white as snow. About thirty minutes later everything went silent in the house. my t.v wasn't even turned on to afraid to make any sound. Lux was asleep but I couldn't,I couldn't fall asleep with these questions running through my mind like why, why is he so angry with life why doesn't mom leave him will I be like this when I'm older and I meet the "love" of my life would he beat me and our kids would I leave? my door slightly and I saw my mother Katie, she looked at me and my heart broken like a shattered glass the sight of her made me angry with my father her eye was black and swollen and lip was busted up and her nose was broken. She walked into my room while she pulled a small pink suitcase that had a "L" on it and she put it by my bed and walks over to my bed and she walks over to my closet and pulls out my suitcase and shove as much clothes as the suitcase could fit. And finished and walked over to me and sat next to me and I stared and lux to Afraid to look at my mother my mother spoke so softly "my baby girls my world my Alex I need you to take this money I need you to take theses tickets for you and lux to go to your aunts house in Australia I need you to be safe I can't live with myself if I know Travis your father hurt you two and I need you to leave now" I was shocked I was scared "but mum you need to come with us we can go to aunt janes please mum" she shakes her head no and points for me to leave I nod my head I grab a back pack I put my personal things in it I than put Lux favorite stuffy and blanket that she could not live without. I pick lux up and I guess mom already called us a taxi cause there was a cab already outside for us I put lux in the back seat and mum puts our suitcases in the trunk and handed me two hundred dollars and kissed my check and walked back inside and I got into and cab and lux cuddled into my side and asked for her stuffy and blanket and I gave them to her and she held onto both of them like her life depended on it about twenty minutes in the cab we finally were at the airport and we got out and the taxi driver told us mum already paid so we went inside the airport and went to a small coffee shop lux got a hot chocolate and a sandwich and I got a coffee with creamer and than the plane called us
