--RIN'S POV--
I stepped into the house from the so called "great outdoors". How could you say something like that when it's over 95° out?
After slipping out of my shoes, I snuck through the dimly lit living room, the moonlight casting a shadow as I moved to the hallway.
Without making a sound, I twisted the door handle on the second door to my left, peering inside.
In the queen-sized bed was a figure, curled up in the blankets.
I could feel a smirk crawl upon my face as I slipped into the room, approaching the girl in the blankets.
I removed a few blankets, finally seeing her. A few locks of her (h/c) hair covered her face as her (e/c) eyes fluttered open.
As she analyzed my face, a warm smile laced her lips, which I coated with my own.
"Welcome home, Rin," she whispered as I pulled away, "Sorry for falling asleep."
"It's alright, (y/n)," I muttered, "I need to talk to you, though."
She nodded, sitting up and stretching her arms above her head. On her left hand, the small, simple azure ring glinted the moonlight.
Just the sight of it upset me. I've had to go on too many exorcisms lately to plan the wedding, and (y/n) has been here all alone.
I know that Shiemi and Izumo like to visit her a lot, the others come on occasion. I don't understand how Yukio was able to make the plans with Shiemi when he had work to do.
Maybe I'm stressing with work.
(Y/n) walked out of the room, her hair sticking up a bit. I couldn't help it; I laughed. She stopped, looked back and smiled almost longingly.
"How was the exorcism?" she asked, motioning for me to follow.
"Actually, it wasn't an exorcism today."
"What? Then it was a meeting?"
"Kinda. Yukio needed to tell me something important."
"Well then," she yawned, sitting at the kitchen table, "What was so important that it took until two in the morning for it to be explained?"
"Is it seriously two?!"
"Yeah."
I scratched the back of my head guiltily. Damn, I didn't mean to do that.
"Well, we had to figure out what it meant."
"What what meant?"
"You've heard about the Bloody Moon, right?"
She tilted her head, not in confusion, but in curiosity.
"Well, Yukio saw something, more like heard something while he was investigating it."
I pulled out a slip of paper from my pocket, sliding it across the table.
"This is what he heard."
After a minute of looking it over, her eyes were fully alert.
"Blue? So Yukio thinks you have something to do with this?"
I nodded.
"And something to do with me?"
I nodded again.
Her understanding features turned into worry.
"Death's door? That means that one of us could die. One out of the nine involved."
"Not could. Will. It says that one will die."
"Oh god, Rin. We don't even know who's involved! We don't know who said this!"
"Yeah, but Yukio didn't lie."
"How do you know that?"
I tried not to respond, but she gave me an intense look.
"I just... Know."
She gave me an unsatisfiying look.
"Come on. Seriously?"
"Look, he's my brother and I'm going to believe him!" I snapped, instantly feeling bad when her eyes widened, "Sorry, I just-"
"No, Rin. It's fine. You should get some sleep, I'll be there in a bit after I look at this a while longer."
I nodded, my eyelids feeling heavy as I went back to the bedroom and collapsed onto the bed, immediately fading into sleep.
