Across the Country

Chapter 8

Gemma's Pov:

That night I was waiting for the plan to start. I layed on my bed. I was pretending to be asleep. My parents come in at random times. I continued to predicted to sleep. I heard the signal.

I got up from my bed and walked to the door. When I opened it, Jack was there. "Did you get the keys," I asked. He just held up the keys and smiled. We walked to the front door. We tried to make as little sound as possible.

When we got to the door, Jack took out the keys and opened the door. We ran out. "Yes finally!" I yelled. Jack took my hand and led me to the back. "The car you fixed it," I said. The car was fixed and parked in the back. "Yeah I wanted to fix it for this reason," Jack said.

"We should go," I said looking around nervously. Jack nodded his head. I went in the passenger's seat. Jack started the car. We drove off. "What are we going to go," I asked. I turned to look at Jack. "We are going to go to the police in Oneida" Jack said. "Is that a town," I asked.

We got to Oneida and looked for the police station. "It is in the outskirts of town," I said as I pointed to the street we had to go down. Jack turned at the street. "And now we need to find the police station," Jack said.

I street had trees on each side of the road with a hospital across from the state police department. Leaves of the trees landed on the glass of the car and a light breeze was present. I would have been nice to be sitting on the hood of the car. We would just talk and relax. But, that couldn't happen. We had to put my parents behind bars.

"There it is," I said. We parked the car and I jumped out. We walked into the police department. I opened the door. There was some cops walking around with files and some typing away on their computer. I looked at Jack. He gave me a reassuring smile.

I walked up to the front desk. Jack was not too far behind me. "Hello," I beamed at the man sitting at the desk. "Hi, how can I help you" He responded. "I have a problem that has been going on for my whole life and just last week it got even worse," I said. I found my shoes very interesting at that point. "Ok, I'll get a police you can talk to" He said.

He got up from his chair and motioned me over to a room. Here goes nothing.

Jack's Pov:

I sat down at a chair outside of the room. My eyes scanned the room and landed on a file. It had the names, Ella and James Woods. I looked around to make sure no one was looking. I got up and walked past the file. I grabbed it and walked to the bathroom. When I got there, I went into the first stall and opened the file. Gemma's parents have in jail before. They were charged with kidnap and child abuse.

I closed the file and walked out of the bathroom. The file was put back into the basket in was found. I sat back down just as the door opened. That was a close one, I thought. "We are right on the case," The cop said.

We got in the car and lead the police to the place Gemma was held in. I held Gemma's hand while I drove. "This will all be okay," I said. She smiled cutely at me. "I know. Thanks for everything Jack! I really like you." She said. I looked over at her briefly to see her blushing.

"I really like you too." I said with so much sincerity in my voice. She giggled and looked back at the road.

Gemma's Pov:

We got to the building and everyone got out of the car. The police went into the house in search of my parents. "I hope they get them," I said. Jack looked to me. "I'm sure they will," He said.

We waited for them to come out with my parents in handcuffs. The police finally came out. I looked over and saw my parents.

They had there hands behind their back. My mom's hair was messy as was my dad's too. They looked like they tried to put up a fight but failed. I stood still as the past me.

"We loved you, how could you tell the police," My Mom said.

"We just wanted to be a family," My Dad said.

I said nothing in return. I only smiled coldly in their direction and waved.

(A/N: Hey guys! Sorry I didn't update on Wednesday. I was feeling a bit uninspired but I am back on my feet. So this story is almost done.
