Chapter 18

At the top is a picture of Zea and Lacey. I just realized I never showed what they looked similar too. But these pictures are pretty damn accurate. So Lacey and Zea at the top (Zea brown hair, Lacey blonde hair. Let's get to what you came for . The update!

*Lacey*

I had Ashley watch Kota and I went over to Zea's house to talk to her. I knocked on the door and Andy opened it. Not who I was looking for, he leaned against the doorframe flipping his hair.

"Lacey hey what's up?" he asked.

I bounced on my heels.

"Is Zea home?"

"No she ran to the store to get something to get for dinner. She should be back soon, want to wait for her?" Andy asked holding open the door.

I walked through thanking him and that's when Jaylen looked up from the table and her crayons and ran to me.

"Aunt Lacey!" she yelled and crashed into me.

I hugged her and kissed the top of her and told her it was nice to see her and she'd have to come over and hang out with me soon and we could have girl time. She nodded and went back the table. Andy grabbed a can of soda and handed one to me and opened his own. I took a sip and sighed,

"So what's up? Just get bored at home or something?" he asked.

I wish.

"I'm never bored anymore. But I actually came to talk to Zea" I explained.

Andy shrugged leaning against the counter.

"About what? Maybe I can help"

I tapped the top of my soda can with my nail and took a sip contemplating on if I should tell him or not. It didn't seem right I didn't even tell Ashley and if I told Andy he would tell Ashley and then I wouldn't get to and that would cause him and I to fight. But what if Zea hadn't said anything to Andy about it? Shit this fucking sucked. I moved my hair from my eyes and figured I might as well say something seeing as how I was already here and it was going to come up anyway. I took a deep breath,

"Has Zea mentioned anything about forgiving Juliet?" I asked.

Andy's eyes flickered and for a split second I thought I had pissed him off but then he said,

"Why?"

"That wasn't a no"

I looked at him in disbelief. So he did know, how long had he known? How  come I didn't know anything about it?

"Lace its a sensitive-"

"Don't give that bullshit! You knew?"

"Knew what?" I heard Zea asked as she walked through the front door.

She looked shocked to see me and I glanced at Jaylen who was staring and Zea told her to go to her room for a second. Zea waited for the door to close and then I turned back to her. She averted her eyes and looked at Andy then back at me confused.

"What's going on?" she asked her brown hair pulled into a ponytail.

"When were you going to tell me?" I spat angry.

"Tell you what?"

"Don't play fucking innocent with me Zea!" I screamed and then Darius started to cry.

Andy dismissed himself and went to go be with Darius.

"Lacey I honestly have no idea what you're talking about" she told me.

I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Oh really? Is it true you are on your way to forgiving the bitch that nearly killed us??!" I screamed.

Shock covered her face and she set down her purse and pushed a few stray hairs away that fell in her face.

"Okay hold on, how did you even know about that?" she asked.

"Your new pal came by my house to ask me to forgive her. Then she told me you were working up to it, I wanted to know if it was true looks like I got my answer" I said.

Zea walked closer and I backed up a step not even wanting to be in the same room as her right now.

"Lacey calm down-"

"Don't tell me to calm down Zea! I can't believe you! She nearly killed you, me too! and you're going to forgive her?!" I screamed.

I watched irritation in Zea snap.

"Oh my god just shut up for a second! You and Andy are just the same thinking I'm crazy. I can't hold onto rage forever like you guys can I can't Lacey!"  she screamed leaning close to me.

I could feel my face getting red I was pissed. Utterly pissed, how? How could she do this?

"Why not? She worked with Byran in  attempts to kill you Zee, how can you forgive some one for something like that? They hadn't been part of our lives for years! Why??"

I felt tears forming and I seen Zea wipe her eyes as she held some back too. She was hurt this wasn't easy for her either.

"Cause I'm not cold hearted Lacey"

I advanced towards her.

"You think I'm cold hearted?"

That's when I swung and she caught my wrist stopping me and shoved me away. I looked at her shocked. Not just with her but with myself, never in all our years of friendship had I ever tried to hit her.

"Don't hit me, don't you dare hit me!" she screamed.

I heard a door close and looked back to see Andy coming out of the nursery. He walked towards us and I turned back to Zea.

"You think this is easy for me Lacey? I am the one who had to live with the pain every day of my life because of everything Byran did to me in the past. The beatings! The rape! The miscarriage! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT DID TO ME!!! HOW MUCH IT DESTROYED ME INSIDE! I will never forgive him! But Juliet made a mistake she fucked up everyone but some people deserve a second chance" she explained  crying.

Her words cut me to the core and I knew she was hurt but my words were pouring out in front of me.

"yeah and who was always there for you? Me. I held you at nights when you cried when you showed up at my house with broken bones I took you to the emergency room. I was there for you! We are friends more like sisters we tell each other everything! or so I thought" I explained.

Tears were pouring down our faces as we both talked at each other.

"I was going to tell you Lacey! I was waiting for the right time. I wanted to ease it onto you not all at once like a bomb I knew you were bound to explode. I didn't think she would come see you. I planned to ease you into it" she explained.

I ran a hand through my hair and short bark of laughter escaped my lips.

"Oh is that right? and when would the right time have been? Oh I know how about when decided you were going to forgive her-"

"Ladies stop that's enough" Andy said stepping in between us.

I looked at him and so did Zea.

"Listen we all know this is screwed up. But you two are friends you need to work this out. It sucks that you had to find out this was Lacey Zea was planning on telling you. I knew about it but when you asked me I couldn't lie to you. I'm sorry Zea but she asked me" he explained.

I took a deep breath and pushed away my hair.

"I can't do this right now, I have to go" I left and closed the door behind me and started sobbing on the way to my car.

How was I suppose to accept this? Was my friendship with Zea every going to be the same?
