Harry's POV:

Usually, my mood at school is always the same. Quiet and in a way emotionless. But today was different. I was meeting Bianca, my newly found wizard friend, behind the gym after school and hopefully get my old life back.

Today I was bright and cheerful. I found myself smiling at random times throughout the day, just thinking of how great lyfe will be after today.

I wasn't the only one to take notice of my mood change, either. I hadn't thought that anyone would notice, since I rarely ever even got a second glance now.

It was during third period, my biology class. I usually always sat by Valeria in this class, since we have it together, but she was ignoring me now. Plus, she just sat by Ozi now. I would always hear them whispering things to each other like-

"My broccili was super super ugly last night."

"Omg mine too guuuuuuurl."

"So I dipped it in some sea lamprey juices. And let me tell you, BEST. THANG. EVAH."

By then the teacher would usually make them shut up.

But anyways, today I spaced out during biology, as usual, and began thinking about how maybe I could go back to dating Valeria. We'd hang out and go to the movies, pee on people's laps, watch fetus movies, and drink Mexican cream orange juice like old times. Just the thought of this made me grin a huge, sappy smile.

"Hey," the kid who was sitting beside me whispered. I think his name was Zayn. I hadn't ever really talked to him before. Even though he sat right next to me, just like everyone else, he ignored me. So when he decided to talk to me, I was stunned.

"What's got you so happy, mate? You're usually so serious," he asked, playfully nudging my arm and grinning.

"I-I was just umm...thinking." Had he just called me 'mate'?

By now my smile had faded. I caught a quick glance at Valeria.

"So it's about Valeria?" his smile had faded into a kind of dissappointed look.

"Y-Yeah, well...err...kinda I guess..."

"Hm." he seemed to be thinking about something, and he turned to the front of the classroom again.

I thought it was strange, not only had he called me his 'mate', but he looked dissapointed when I said I was thinking about Valeria. And he just decided to talk to me after never acknowledging my existance?

Maybe it was a force of habit, calling people 'mate'. Maybe sometimes he'd even call his potatoes his mates! Yeah, that's probably it.

And maybe he had feelings for Valeria and didn't like the fact that I still liked her. He was just feeling jealous.

Maybe he decided to notice me finally because he liked my new shoes and thought I was a cool bean. After all, they were covered in pictures of pigs that were in dire need of a diet. Who doesn't love that?

After what had seemed like 1467421589433 hours, I finally heard the dismissal bell. I got to my locker in a matter of seconds and I was out the door shortly after, on my way to meet Bianca. I don't think I ever ran that fast in my lyfe! Well, not since I chased my goldfish all the way to New York City! Boy oh boy what a trip!
