Prompt: Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama; inspiration: All Too Well by Taylor Swift (a non-requested one-shot because All Too Well is definitely one of my favorite Taylor songs ever)

2020 update: I legit listened to nothing but the Lover album for a straight month and All Too Well is still one of my favorite Taylor songs of all-time, thank you very much

I walked through the door with you. The air was cold, but something 'bout it felt like home somehow, and I left my scarf there at your sister's house, and you still got it in your drawer even now...

Whether it was from nerves or the crisp autumn air, I wrapped my jacket tighter around me and shoved my bare hands into my coat pockets. Only I could be too much of a nervous wreck to forget gloves, yet I somehow remembered to bring a scarf.

"What if they don't like me?" I looked up at my boyfriend Wilmer, a pout forming on my lips.

He chuckled. "They'll love you, Hermosa," he kissed my forehead, "just as much as I do."

I grinned, pleased with his cheesy yet sweet answer; however, my smile faltered at the front door being opened.

"You must be Demi," a woman with long black hair and russet brown eyes greeted with a smile. "I've heard so much about you!" she squealed, engulfing me in a hug that I awkwardly returned.

"Let her breathe, Marilyn," Wilmer teased.

His sister released me, only to playfully smack his shoulder.

"You didn't tell me that she was so cute and pretty," my face flushed at her compliments, even though I didn't believe them, "and not to mention that you two have been together for how long, yet I'm just now meeting her?"

One side of Wilmer's mouth quirked upwards. "We've only been together for five weeks, Mar."

"But you two have been friends for a while now!" she groaned before returning her gaze to me. "Let's introduce you to the rest of the family." She grasped my hand, gently pulling me into the cozy house that would soon feel like a second home to me.

I hadn't realized that I left my scarf at Marilyn's until we returned to Wilmer's house and I went to unwound it from my neck.

"I left my scarf there - at your sister's house," I confessed with an embarrassed chuckle.

He flashed me an amused smile. "I'll pick it up tomorrow," he reassured as he removed his coat and hung it up in his closet, "but I won't be giving it back to you."

I arched an eyebrow. "Oh, really? Why not?"

"Because," he approached me and tucked locks of my jet black hair behind my ear, "I need something to remind me of you when you're not here. That is, until you move in, of course."

I shove my shaking hands into my pockets as I remember that day - the day he introduced me to his family, the day he first mentioned moving in together. I knew he was serious.

I knew.

Did I really?

Shaking my head, I continue walking, hearing nothing but the sound of my boots dragging across the asphalt.

Oh, your sweet disposition and my wide-eyed gaze, we're singing in the car, getting lost upstate. The autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place, and I can picture it after all these days...
