After making breakfast for dad and Jackson, I grabbed my school bag and headed to school. It only took about twenty minutes on foot and I was there just in time. I weaved my way through the crowd and stopped at my locker. I was about to open it when something hard hit me in the back. The force sent me forward and I banged my head on the locker. I heard a group of chuckles come from behind me and glanced down. A textbook was laying at my feet. I sighed and rubbed my shoulder before opening my locker. I shoved some book in and was about to grab my folder when someone slammed it shut, on my fingers. A small burst of pain shot through my fingers and I pulled it to my chest. I looked up and saw Melissa smirking.
Melissa Jones loved to make my already fucked up life even harder. If I had to take a guess on who hated me most, it would be Melissa. I don't know what I had done to her to make her hate me. Her blonde hair was pinned up into a tight bun and her hazel eyes stared at me. I swear, if looks could kill.
I wanted to glare at her but I couldn't so I just turned my gaze to the floor. I was hoping she would just leave but when she grabbed my shoulder and pushed me back, I knew this was going to take a while. I stumbled back but made sure I didn't fall. She narrowed her eyes and slammed me against the lockers. When I didn't react, she growled and pressed her forearm to my throat. She applied a good amount of pressure and I gasped for breaths but still didn't do anything to stop her. My arms hung limply by my side. After a second, she let me go. I took me a second to get my breath back but she still wasn't done. She grabbed my hair and fisted her fingers through it. I didn't see her lift her fist but I felt it connect with my cheek. My head turned slightly. She pushed my head down and kicked her knee up. I let out a very small gasp at the sudden movement. She glared at me and turned away. "You are a freak." She sneered and walked to class. Everyone seemed to follow her lead and soon I was the only one in the hall. I felt blood dripping from my nose so I grabbed my bag and walked over to the girls room. And that is where I spent most of first period, trying to stop the bleeding.
When it finally stopped, second period had already started. I slowly walked to class. When I go there, I had to knock because the door was locked. Mr. Moore gave me a glare. "Nice of you to join us, Miss Slade." I ducked my head and hurried to my seat in the back. As I was passing Melissa, she stuck her foot out and made me trip. I landed with a 'oof' and my papers fell out of my book. The class laughed as I tried to snatch them all up. I reached under Jason's seat not realizing that I was practically coming onto him. He cleared his throat and I quickly looked up, only to bump my head against the under side of his desk. that only made the class laugh even harder and me to blush slightly. I scrambled out from under his desk and stuttered a quick 'sorry' before slumping in my seat. Great. Today just couldn't get worse.
I lied. Not only did I forget my paper that I spent a week on, I also spilled hot coffee on one of my teachers and got detention. And that was all in two classes. When the lunch bell finally rang, I was so glad. Lunch was my favorite part of the day. I would always grab some food and head out to the woods. I would sit and just draw. It was peaceful and the perfect place.
I grabbed some pizza, fries, and a water and got in line to pay. I wasn't paying attention so I didn't notice it get really quiet. I also didn't hear Melissa come up behind me. What I did notice was a wet, sticky, drink being poured on my head. I gasped and dropped my tray. I quickly turned around and saw her smirking.
"Whoops. I thought you were the trash. It was an honest mistake." Her voice held a fake innocent tone. I clenched my jaw and took a deep breath. I wanted to yell. I wanted to hurt her. But I simply turned and picked up my tray. I walked passed all the students in the line and handed the lunch lady a five dollar bill before walking through the lunch room door. I could feel many eyes on my but I paid them no attention. I walked around the woods for about ten minutes before I suddenly flung my tray at a tree with all my strength. It shattered into little pieces.
