The smell of gunpowder lingered in the area as Oliver searched the soldiers for anything useful before anymore arrived. The lingering thought of how the soldiers happened upon him and Felicity continued to prod at his mind, stirring up even more questions than he had before. It was obvious that whoever was responsible for dropping him and Felicity off in this jungle was after more than simply killing them otherwise they would have been dead by now. The previous encounter with soldiers wasn't a lucky break due to storm trooper aim as Felicity jokingly called it, but more likely that the armed men were merely trying to drive their prey in a certain direction. Oliver's silence and focus on searching the soldiers pulled Felicity to his side as she began.
"I don't suppose they have any food...or water?" Almost immediately following her comment Oliver grabbed a military canteen from the soldier's belt and handed it to Felicity. The cool liquid was a much needed break from the horrible situation as Felicity stopped herself from drinking the entire canteen, despite her body craving more of the precious resource. She turned to express her thanks and instead caught a handful of military style meal packets. Felicity read the side of the small tube-like items.
MRE
"Meal ready to eat." She happily exclaimed, silently noting to herself that they were due for a win. Oliver finally stopped his search as he pulled a slightly bulky cell phone from the soldier's vest and turned on the device. Felicity quickly turned her attention to the screen, extremely happy to see a sign of tech after being without so much as a keyboard for what seemed like days.
"You think we can call for help with it?" Oliver asked as he moved through menus on the phone, somehow knowing that they wouldn't be so lucky.
"Maybe. Assuming we're not somewhere remote and it's not locked." Felicity replied, optimistically leaning closer to the phone. Oliver brought up a map icon from the main screen, quickly displaying a satellite view of a large island. They both shared a disappointing sigh as they felt their possible escape slip away from them.
"Yeah that's not gonna reach help. It's probably on a closed network anyway...hey, atleast we kinda know where we are though." Felicity stated, trying to look on the bright side of the otherwise dark situation. Oliver noticed a flashing icon in the bottom of the screen and tapped it, causing the satellite view of the island to zoom in to a paticular area with two GPS signals centered on the screen.
"I mean there are obviously a lot of islands around, but we know that it's tropical and really hot so that somewhat narrows it down." Felicity rambled as Oliver examined the map on the phone and pieced together how the soldiers were able to track them and cut them off. He quickly turned toward Felicity and began to scan her body for any strange markings or cuts. His fingers moved along her arms and then to her back as he pulled her shirt aside and closely inspected her bare skin, catching Felicity by surprise.
"Oliver, I understand that the whole landmine catapult thing was really hot, but I don't think we have time for this." She remarked, looking back to try and see what he was so rapidly searching for. Oliver stopped at Felicity's left shoulder blade and spotted a small cut, something he was sure wasn't there before. He was familiar with the bullet wound on her right shoulder, but this scar was much fresher and appeared to have something bulging underneath the skin.
"What're you doing? What is it?" Felicity asked, confused by Oliver's current fixation with her shoulder.
"They're tracking us." He replied, feeling for the shape of the GPS implant below Felicity's skin.
"How?"
"Looks like a GPS implant above the shoulder blade." Oliver answered as he moved Felicity's shirt to gain better access to the area.
"That's a little extreme, I mean if we're stuck on an island why do they need to track us?" She asked, holding her shirt over her shoulder so Oliver could view it better.
"I'm not sure, but we need to get rid of these things before they find us again." Oliver stated, knowing they didn't have much time before another patrol showed up.
"Okay...how?" Felicity asked, glancing back over her shoulder to see Oliver's apologetic expression. A look of fear widened Felicity's eyes as she replied.
"Please no."
The large reinforced doors lined the hallway, each fitted with several locks and a slot at the very bottom. The single technician moved down the long hallway and stopped outside a door, pausing upon hearing the sounds of screaming coming from inside the room. He waited for a moment before knocking against the door. The sound of the slide latching back rung out as the heavy door slightly opened and an emotionless face peered through the small opening.
"Sorry to disturb you sir, but we have a situation with our new guests." The technician explained, doing his best not to look into the dark room behind his superior.
"Give me a moment." The man replied, moving away from the door and back to the single operating chair in the room. The technician moved beside the door and forced himself to look away from the room as the sound of screams started again, this time quickly being cut short by a gurgling noise. The bald man with round glasses exited the room immediately following the newfound silence and stopped beside the technician, awaiting for an explanation on the situation. The man lifted his tablet and played back that footage from one of the hidden cameras near the minefield.
"After Kilo team moved in on their position the main target quickly neutralized them." The tech explained as the footage of Oliver battling the soldiers played before them. The superior grinned as he watched, closely observing Oliver's attacks.
"Outstanding." He remarked, as the tech skipped ahead to the primary reason for his inquiry.
"After dealing with Kilo they must have found out about the GPS trackers." He said as the footage of Oliver carefully removing the GPS implant from Felicity's back with a knife played on the small screen. The superior smiled at the footage, seemingly enjoying himself as he watched.
"We've lost visual contact with both targets. How do want to proceed?" The tech asked, lowering the tablet and turning to his thinking superior.
"Continue as planned. Send two more teams into the field, we need to insure that our guests are heading in the right direction." The man ordered, his twisted gaze settling on his blood covered operating gloves as he removed them one at a time.
