~~still Lilac POV~~
"So why did I let you two drive me here?" Grunkle Stan asked, parking at Greasy's Diner.
"Because!" Mabel said, bouncing. I was smooshed between Dipper and Mabel in the backseat.
"Shouldn't we've something for her?" Stanford looked back at me. "I mean, she's still dripping."
"I'm fine." I said, smiling.
"Yeah, it's okay." Dipper said.
"Whatever." He grumbled. "I suppose you need to eat anyways. First the lake, now here. Oh, I'm glad my niece found you, Lilac. They really seemed to miss you. Me, I could care less." He got out of the car and the three of us followed. We were greeted by Susan and sat down at a booth.
"So, what can I getcha all today hmm?" Susan asked.
"Hambrgers!" Mabel demanded. Stanford sighed.
"Well, I suppose that since there were a particularly large amount of dopes today at the shack, you can have burgers. Burgers all around!" He said, throwing his hands in the air.
"Actually," I said, raising a finger. "I'd just like what I had last time I was here, if you don't mind."
"Fine by me." Stanford shrugged. "Less money out of my pocket."
"You don't want a hamburger?" Dipper asked. I shook my head.
"Is it because of..." Mabel trailed off. I knew what she was asking, and I nodded. The high protine in meat not only was extremely easy to dissolve because of the tightness of the particles, but it was high in energy. These people really didn't need to see me when I got excited. It was best to keep the reservoir down at all times.
"So, Lilac," Stanford asked me, giving me a look. "Why are you so wet?"
"Because I had been swimming." I said casually like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"In your clothes?" Stanford asked. "You were pushed, weren't you?"
"Gavity." I said with a shrug. He laughed.
"I like this kid!" He exclaimed.
"Okay." I said with a smile.
The burgers seemed to be really good, but I was happy with my lettuce sandwich. Mabel, Dipper and Grunkle Stan stared at me while I swallowed my ice cubes, and so in fun I stared at them while they ate. Then we all laughed.
An after that the twins decided to take me to the Shack. I was alright by this. I guess they didn't understand that I didn't need comfort. I could sleep wherever I chose, but the gesture was nice.
So I was going to stay. I was going to have friends. Mabel, Dipper, they really seemed to care. I snuggled into my make-shift bed, enjoying the warmth of both the blankets and my new human friends. As soon as somebody was awake I was up and ready. No need to pretend to sleep longer then you have to right? My clothes had dried but were a bit stiff so I started to stretch out while Mabel got dressed.
"Hey Lilac, wanna hang out with us in the gift shop to-" she looked at my clothes. "Are those the only clothes you have?" She asked. I shrugged.
"Only clothes I need." I said with a smile.
"Ok, ok, Lilac, as soon as we're done hanging with Wendy we are taking you to the mall and getting you some clothes!"
"That isn't necessary," I said, but I could tell her mind was made up.
"Sorry Lilac" Dipper apologized, "It's too late." I sighed. Great, a thing like me defiantly needs to visit the most densely populated part of town.
We all went downstairs. Stanford was cooking something for breakfast in the kitchen. Dipper, Mabel and I snuck off into their living room. I knew why; it was inevitable.
"Ok, I get to ask the first question." Dipper said. Mabel nodded. I gave a little sigh. Having already agreed to this last night when we had arrived here, there was no way to back out now.
"Where do you come from?" He asked. "I mean, a different dimension, I know that already, but like...where?"
"Well...I suppose that I've spent most of my time in the ocean." I responded. "Typically. Over a millenia, if I really think about it."
"Okay..." Dipper said.
"My turn!" Mabel exclaimed. "Okay, um...oh, I know! How do you repell knives and stuff? Is your skin made of, like, really soft metal or something?" I chuckled.
"To be honest", I said, "I don't know what I'm made of. I know that it's unbreakable, yet moldable to my will. I can shape it into whatever I want, but nothing can cut it, burn it, excetera."
"Cool..." Dipper and Mabel said together.
"Yeah, it's confusing I know, but try not to think about it too much." I counciled them. They nodded.
"Okay, how old are you?" Dipper asked a little shyly.
"You mean, how long have I been alive?" I clarified. "Wow, that is tough. Um...hm...I honestly stopped counting. Trillions of billions?" I offered.
"Trilions of billions of what?" Dipper asked.
"Years." I said sheepishly.
"So, you're like, anchient!" Mabel exclaimed. I shrugged. "You're older than the dinosaurs!" She continued. I nodded.
"Sure, yeah." I said, not knowing the lifespan of a dinosaur. I guess they lived for a really long time, according to Mabel.
"Okay," Mabe sad, geating really excited. "How did you stay under the water for so long?"
"I don't need to breath." I explained. "No lungs."
"So weird..." Dipper said. "But, I mean, like, cool weird, not weird weird. Haah...AHEM so, you said that you can change into anything right? Could you show us? Just something small, like-"
"A cat!" Mabel interrupted. I smiled. Quickly I looked to make sure Stanford wasn't around or nearby. I saw his aura, still in the kitchen. Good. Okay... cat, fuzzy, soft, cat. Whiskers, tail, fur, soft, cat. I transformed myself slowly, so that I'd be a bit more believable for them, but if I wanted I could do it in the blink of an eye. It took a lot longer than I thought, about 30 seconds, but in the end I was a cat.
"For some reason I'd thought you'd be smaller." Dipper said, looking at me. I came up to his shoulder. Mabel shrieked and began petting my soft black fur.
"SO PRETTY." She said, eyes wide. "And you're just the right size for a pillow! Or child rides! Can I ride you?" She pleaded. I nodded and she jumped on my back. I meowed (for effect) and began toted Mabel through the living room.
"BEST DAY EVER!" she triumphed, fists in the air. "Dipper, come up here!" Mabel said. Dipper looked embarrassed. I rolled my eyes, grabbed him with a paw and placed him on my back. Then, Making sure their Grunkle wasn't looking, I ran out the front door. I sped away from the shack, still having plenty of energy from yesterday's dinner, and headed into a section of the woods. It had birch tree's, lovely things, too bad they weren't as tall as a pine. I slowed to a walk so they'd stop gripping onto my 'fur' for dear life.
"So?" I asked. "Anything else you want to know?"
"Oh my gosh you can talk?" Dipper said, almost falling off. I laughed.
"Of course I can talk. I just changed the shape I was in. I didn't change what I was."
"So what are you, then?" Dipper asked.
"No fair!" Mabel whined. "I thought it was my turn!"
"What am I?" I echoed. After all this time, I still don't have an answer to that question. Where was I born again...Bayllo? What was my father's name...he gave me my name, but what did he call me... It had been so long. So much about my terrible past had slipped from my memory, which is a good thing. My memory of me life on Bayllo was like shadows of the truth. Names, faces, blood blood blood. Potions, blood, death, cities underground...
"I guess I'm nothing." I concluded. "Not an animal," I stepped over a fallen log, "Not a fungus, not a protozoa or bacteria, not a plant...I don't have a category. I'm nothing."
I couldn't see Dipper's face, but I could tell from the way I said that it must have sounded depressing. I stopped, and turned around.
"Come on," I said, giving them a kitty grin. "You guys want breakfast, don't you?"
I had to turn back into my human shape before I entered the shack, obviously. They went inside before me, and as I watched them race to the kitchen Dipper looked back at me for a moment. There was a strange look on his face. Happiness, sure, but something underneath it too. I couldn't place it. I smiled in return and the twins sat at the table to eat their food, which I couldn't identify. I sat on the couch instead, and stared at the giant skull next to it.
"Dinosaur..." I whispered. "Didn't they go extinct?"
