Chapter 1: Where are You

Running through the woods with some friends seems pretty normal, right? Well that's where I got it wrong. We were just hanging out in the woods, like any normal group of 15 year olds.
We met up outside the woods around 2 in the afternoon so it was nice and bright. We got to our 'secret' lake/waterfall cave system thing and that's when shit started hitting the freaking fan. 2 in the bloody afternoon and it's suddenly midnight! Well, it looked like midnight at least...we all had our phones and they all said something like 2:17pm. We were just looking all around us and back to those little LED screens, just making sure we weren't dreaming or something. Then...something grabbed Mia. She didn't even make a sound until she realised it too. A horrifying scream echoed around the forest and...we ran. We didn't know where we were running but we were running together. Rori was jumping from tree to tree, showing off her tree parkour and the rest of us; Brendan, James and me, just ran and ran and ran. I don't know about the others but I know I heard footsteps. I don't know what they were but I felt like it was catching up to us. Blood rushed around my body and I could hear my heart go badum badum badum in my head. Ugh, I remember collapsing on my hands and knees as soon as I got to the playground that was around 20 meters away from the forest. Standing up straight, I looked around and noticed Rori panting against the swing sets, James sitting on the bench holding his head, and no sign of Brendan. "H...hey, where...where's Brendan...?" Looking to James, I didn't have the heart to say what we were all thinking...
