Just One More Night

Chapter 5

Eliza's POV

I woke up and ran my fingers through my hair and sat up. I looked at my surroundings, which had pink walls and some furniture.

"Someone's up," I heard Lilly say walking into the room as if she was watching me until I got up.

"How are you feeling?" She then asked sitting on the bed.

"I'm fine, it wasn't as bad as last time," I said to her and curled my legs up to my chest.

"Promise me something," she said. She placed her hand on my shoulder grasping my attention.

"Well go on then," I said to her when she sat there for a little while.

"Promise me, you won't do this anymore. I know you have been through a lot, but please stop. It's not going to help you get better," she said to me.

"What if I don't want to get better?" I said and looked away from her.

"Don't say that. I don't know what I would do without you," she said and shook my arm trying to meet my eyes.

"I have no reason to be here, my mom was a slut, I feel guilty for my sister and all I have is-" "You have me and dancing, you love dancing," she said bringing up a reason.

"Yeah, still I will never be a professional, they wouldn't let me with my sickness," I said and my stomach knotted.

"Stop this El, just because you have cancer does not mean your life is over. You have a whole life ahead of you. But at the rate you're going, you won't be here for long," she said starting to cry.

"I'm sorry Lilly, I've just been depressed since I found out," I said and felt a tear slide down my cheek.

*flashback*

"Your tests have come in Eliza," Doctor Roberts said as he walked into the office where I waited.

"And am I okay?" I asked nervously running my fingers through my hair and continuously fixing my top.

"Eliza," he said and grabbed my hands in his.

"You have Lung Cancer," he said to me and I fell to the ground crying aloud.

"Please no," I said to him and he held me in his arms as I cried into his coat.

Lilly broke my thoughts grabbing my hands. "It's all going to be alright El," she said and pulled me into a hug.

No it wasn't going to be okay. I was dying.
