Part Four.

Sebastian had known Rosalie for over 2 years now. 2 years and 2 months to be exact. He's known since that first night that she was someone that would change his life. And he let her, he let her into his lonely life and allowed her to change him for the better. He hasn't been this happy in so long, if ever.

Yesterday he had given her the first-class plane tickets to Florence for Christmas. His mother had given him a smile before leaving the room to hide her tears. Mr. Fitzgerald had given him a sly, knowing wink. Their plane had left a few hours after Christmas dinner, and they had just gotten settled into their hotel room in the heart of the city.

Watching her eyes light up every time she stepped onto a plane was something he'd never get used to. He'd pay for a flight every week just to see that spark in her eyes.

Yeah, Seb had waited long enough. He'd let enough time go by without making Rosalie Fitzgerald, Rosalie Carter. He knows she's just what he needs for the rest of his life, and as she starts to unpack some of their things, he fingers the box that had taken a permanent residence in his pants pocket.

They were going to see the Medici Palace in a few hours, after a quick nap, and that's where he had planned to propose, when she was in her favorite city, surrounded by art from her favorite time in history.

"Seb, look! Look at the brush strokes and the detail! Can you believe how beautiful this painting is?" Rose was in awe, looking at one of the famous paintings hanging in the Medici Palace. After a few seconds of silence from Sebastian, she turned around, seeking out confirmation from him.

He was looking at the painting, but not looking. He had a hand in his pocket, and was fidgeting. After two years, she knew his tells, and the repeated tapping of his foot was a dead giveaway.

"Seb? What's wrong, babe?" She asked, grabbing his hand and lacing their fingers.

He nodded his head, seeming to get over whatever was making him so stressed.

"I don't know how to start this, so I'm just going to get this all out."

He kissed the top of her hand, and brought her close to him, looping her arm around his neck and leaning his forehead against her's.

"I want be with you for all eternity. My love for you gets stronger every day we are together, and I swear that I will always love you. I don't want to lose one moment with you—I've never been more sure of something in my entire life. So—"

He untangled himself from her arms, sliding down onto one knee, keeping ahold of her left hand.

"With Heaven as my witness, right here on bended knee, I'm asking you, baby, will you marry me?"

He flipped open the little blue box, revealing the brilliant diamond ring that he had picked out for her months ago.

Her eyes were wide, not even looking at the ring. Tears cascaded down her cheeks as she nodded her head frantically, her vibrant red hair falling in waves around her face.

"Baby, I'm gonna need to hear an affirmative. A nod isn't gonna do it for me." He teased, the heavy feeling in his chest disappearing.

"Yes!" She laughed. "Yes, you idiot, of course I'll marry you. I love you!"

She gave him enough time to slide the ring past her blood red finger nail, and to settle it on her finger before throwing herself down onto him, both of them falling to the floor of the Medici Palace.

Honestly, he could care less what they looked like right now, in this prestigious place of history. All he cared about was the woman in his arms, who was holding onto him so damn tightly as if he was all she had ever wanted in life.

He sure as hell knows she's all he's ever wanted in life.

Yeah, he's never been this sure of something in his entire goddamn life
