Chapter Six

That night, Harry sat on his bed thinking. It had been a really full day. He'd had to wake up at six in the morning to make it to rehearsal, then he'd split his time between singing, driving, and interviews until lunch, and lunch was not exactly relaxing, and then he had been busy all day until just now, when he was the last of the lads to be dropped off at home.

This whole "getting over your best friend who you shouldn't even like in the first place because the whole world thinks you're straight" thing was not as easy as Harry had hoped it would be. He was glad that he and Louis had repaired their friendship, but the experience had taught him that avoiding Louis wasn't going to be an option. The best he could do was pretend that nothing was wrong. But it was still pretty rough to spend every waking moment with the person he was trying to get over. At least Zayn could help him though.

Harry looked out the window. A soft, bluish light was slanting in through the curtains. As Harry gazed outside, small, white flecks began to come swirling down from the sky. It was the first snow of the season! As if on cue, Harry's phone buzzed. It was a text from Louis.

It's snooowwwwing hazza!!!

Harry smiled down at the screen. It was as if he and Louis shared the same thoughts. Somewhere in London, Louis had happened to look out his window at the same time as Harry, and see the snow, too. For some reason, knowing this made Harry uncontrollably happy.

I know lou! it looks so pretty... almost as pretty as u ;)

This was flirting, Harry knew that, but it was late, Zayn wasn't there to yell at him, and he couldn't control himself. He made a mental note to be really careful around Louis tomorrow to balance it out. It was draining to have to think like this, but it was something Harry had to do-- for the sake of the band.

Harry actually laughed out loud at this, then typed out a reply: see if i care xx

haz do u like anyone right now?

Harry's heart was in his throat. This conversation had changed gears pretty fast. He typed: Nah not really. u? and sent it, hating that he had to lie.

Harry waited anxiously for a reply. When he couldn't take it anymore, he got up out of bed and started to pace. Finally... Buzzbuzz

I think im starting to

Harry's heart sank. Louis liked someone? Who?... Why? And why wasn't he good enough? He knew he shouldn't be thinking these things, but he couldn't help it. He was extremely jealous. He sank slowly down to his bed and stared at the phone in his hands.

Louis liked someone, or was starting to, and there was nothing Harry could do about it. He knew Louis would feel hurt, but Harry decided not to respond; this was partly because he didn't want to have to hear Louis talk on and on about whoever it was he liked, but mostly, Harry didn't want to risk getting angry, and saying something he didn't mean-- or worse, something he did.

Harry locked his phone and put it on his bedside table. Then he threw an arm over his eyes. There was no way he was going to get to sleep now. All his brain could do was cycle back thrugh all of the girls Louis had been hanging around with lately, and try to figure out which one of them Louis could possibly like.

They didn't get to see many girls while they were this busy, though, which made it hard for Harry to understand how Louis could be starting to like anyone now. Maybe it was a girl who worked at the recording studio? Or someone Louis had met at a club over the weekend? But this was not likely, as the boys had always gone together, Harry had been with Louis the entire time, and not once had a girl stopped to flirt with Louis.
