A month after the first day of school(October 18)
Nico's POV
Dam Katie, she just always have to do something to make me embarrassed or self conscious. Forget her. Truth is she's pretty hard to forget. Thankfully our project was finally done and presented last week. We're having an assembly today, it's only for 9-11th graders except 12th graders will attend. To me assemblies are stupid and useless. After our our last class we had to go to our homeroom. It was a normal schedule except we left out last class a bit earlier. After we had that project, Katie keeps pulling me to sit with her and her friends. I do admit I am Annabeth and Percy's friend sort of. Percy is very suspicious of me since he says he knows me but can't remember. Who forgets when two girls die? Who moves on when he didn't even save my sister or the other girl? I hate him. Then I dont. As I'm about to sit down when Katie(as always) pulls me and makes me sit next to her and Leo. According to them and others it seems that we are inseparable although Leo does hang out with Piper a bit more. To be honest they aren't that bad. The principal taps the microphone making everyone quiet down.
"Good after noon students of Goode High." He says smiling, "We have exciting news! A few of you will be going to another high school in Brooklyn. Its for an experiment we are trying. Those few lucky selected will go to Rosedale High!"
The principal let the news sink in. Everyone seemed bored as I was but some we're excited. Including you know who.
"At this moment I will announce those lucky students!" he exclaims.
Some teachers clap and whistle but the silence of the students makes the moment awkward. A single hand from the audience went up slowly. It was that girl Elsa.
"Yes? Do you have a question?" The pricipal asks in a giddy way.
Elsa stands up and looks around nervously, "Those who get chosen, how long will they be at Rosedale?"
The principal puts his finger on his chin and thinks, "I believe about a month. If less
2 weeks, if more 2 months."
Elsa nods slightly and sits down. The principal asks for a drumroll from us which we give poorly.
"From the 9th graders are" he looks down at the clipboard in his hands, "Nico di Angelo, Katie Jackson, and Anna Lee! Please follow Mr. Blofis into my office to wait."
All three of us stand up and follow Katie's step-father into the principal's office. Great a whole month at least with Katie and Anna. They are like the same person but with different looks. Seriously.
Percy's POV
"I'm glad she has to go" I whisper to Annabeth who punches me.
She really likes Katie. No matter how annoying she is to me. Annabeth says Katie is like me but cuter, better, and smarter than me. Plus she's a girl. The principal makes us all applaud to those lucky kids. I'm not sure if I'd call them lucky though. Our principal, Mr. Chiron, is like Effie from the Hunger Games. Annoying, always cheery, happy, and is actually nice. Except he's a guy.
"Wonderful! Now for the 10th graders." he looks back down at his clipboard, "Percy Jackson and Natalie Ortiz"
Oh poop. As I stand up to go where the other's went Annabeth sticks her tounge out at me smirking. Forget me gloating about how I had gotten rid of Katie cause now I had to go with her.
Katie's POV
I'm both excited and nervous. I feel like the first day of school. Apperantly only five of us were going. Percy was one of them. And by his expression I could tell he thought he had just gotten rid of me. A bit later Mr. Chiron came into his office with Paul. We had a small conversation of how exciting this was but it was small talk.
Mr. Chiron smiled like how you would imagine (when reading the book)Effie from The Hunger Games would. "Isn't this exciting! You five have been chosen to go to Brooklyn!"
The room was silent. Mr.Chiron (aka: Mr.Effie) felt the awkward moment but kept smiling.
"Great! Well you will leave tomorrow--"
Before the principal could finish his sentence Paul interrupted. "Tomorrow is Saturday."
"Right. What ever you'll leave on Monday. Who ever has family in Brooklyn will stay with them. If you do not have family there then Rosedale will provide you with rooms in their campus." he finished
"Campus?" Anna asked, "They have rooms there?"
"Yes. Some students don't live near that school. So they have rooms for them to stay in." The principal explained, "Well on you go! Tell your parents. Get packing!"
We all stood up to leave but before Percy and I left he came up to us.
"And my the odds be in your favor" He said then winked.
What the Hades happened. Percy and I exchanged glanced then left his office. Paul was already in the car. So we just got in.
"Is this good? Or really bad?" I ask
Percy turns to me grinning.
"What?" I ask
" I don't know if it's Goode or Roselly Bad." He says.
It took me a moment to realize what he ment. But when I did I punched him playfully. I have a feeling something is not going to go well with us. Maybe for the other students it will. But not with us.
Kit's POV
Another assembly here at Rosedale High. They're okay but boring. Our principal, Mrs. Threadgil, is a little too serious sometimes but she's pretty cool. We have the assembly after lunch so it's probably a quick assembly. When we walk into the auditorium I look for the other's. Finally I find Jason and Reyna so I make my way towards them and sit down.
"Any idea what it's about?" I ask them.
Reyna frowns, "No but it's probably important. Mrs. Threadgil was looking a bit more serious than usual earlier."
I nod. The principal finally appears on the stage. Surprisingly the smiles at everyone.
"Just a quick announcement." She says. "Some of you will be going to a different High school for a small experiment we are trying."
She lets the new sink in half of the students and teachers applaud.
"To make this quick the students chosen are" she looks at a sheet of folded paper in her hands. "Molly Belmont(9th grader), Jason Grace(10th grader), Kit Stoll(9th grader), Penny Scott(11th grader), and Sakura Groom(11th grader)"
In relief everyone claps and cheers. I'm sure everyone didn't want to go. On the other hand the girls chosen to go seemed happy. Jason and I look at each other then stand up along with the other girls.
Mrs. Threadgil taps the microphone. "Congratulations. You will be going to Goode High! Please head to my office."
"Fudge" I say.
Jason looks at me weirdly but I just wave my hand meaning that I'll tell him later. We leave the auditorium and head to the principal's office. As we keep on going further you can hear the students being dismissed. A bit later the principal came into the office.
She smiled kindly, "You'll be leaving either on Monday but if any of you have family then you may leave during the weekend. If you don't have family then we will provide a hotel room."
"How long will we stay there? And where is Goode High?" Molly asks.
"At least a month." The principal replies then looks at Jason and me.
I look down at the floor, "Goode High is in New York."
Jason frowns, " How do you know?"
"My brothers go there." I tell him.
To be honest I haven't told him everything. Apperantly he hadn't either because Mrs.Threadgil was looking at him too.We made a silent agreement to talk about it later. The principal explained everything and then sent us back to class. I have a good feeling about this.
