I felt his embrace around me. He held me gently against him stroking my hair. Lifting my face from his shoulder I looked straight into his deep blue eyes. He cupped my face and caressed my cheeks, gradually reaching out to my lips. I wrapped my hand around his head, my fingers entwining with his light brown hair. His lips pressed against mine in a warm kiss. We drew our heads back, still in each others arms.
"I missed you Luke," I said softly.
"I did too Em," he said close to my ears. "I am sorry."
I was about to answer when I felt drops of water splashed on my face. Confused I looked up squinting my eyes. I closed them and opened them again. Lucas's face disappeared and a bright white light dazzled my eyesight. I blinked in a rush trying to accommodate my vision. The sight was a blur. I could make out a white ceiling. Looking to my side I saw a man sprinkling water on my face. Holding up my hand in protest I tried to sit up. The intense pain in my head pulled me down instantly. I lay back down clutching my head with both hands. The harsh reality hit me hard when I realized all that was just a dream.
"Easy there," he said and held my head softly with both his hands. Setting up the pillows in a comfortable position, he held my hand and helped me up gently. Sitting back down he continued. "How many fingers am I holding up?" waving his hand in front of me.
"Four?" I said trying to make out the hazy motion in front of me.
"Good. Now take this he said and handed over a pill and a glass of water to me. It's for the headache."
I could now see his face clearly. It seemed oddly familiar. I knew for sure I had seen him somewhere before but I just couldn't put my finger on it.
"Did you take me away last night?" I asked the stranger. "From Mackenzies I mean."
"Yeah," he said and got up from my side. Walking to a table he picked up something which looked like my phone. "Emily right? I called up your brother. His name was on the emergency dial list."
"Do I know you?" I said suspiciously.
"I am Ethan. We work at Elite. I broke your watch. Ring any bells?"
The memory was clear now. That is exactly where I remember him from.
"Oh! Yeah right," I said. "Thank you," I continued, giving him a smile. "For everything."
He gave me a reassuring nod, his eyes meeting mine. He smiled at me which lit up his whole face. I couldn't help but notice his features. He was gorgeous no doubt. He had a well built physique which was just the right proportion of muscular. I pulled away my eyes looking away from him. He turned around too and started to look for something. I tried to speak to soothe out the awkwardness of the moment but found myself unable to come up with anything. I felt immense gratitude towards him. For if he hadn't saved me yesterday, I wouldn't even know where I would end up.
"Your brother will be here in sometime," he said. "Have the medicine."
"Thanks. How long have I been out?" I said popping the pill and swallowing it with the water.
"Ten hours or something. I called up a doctor. I wasn't sure if the drug that jackass gave you was dangerous or not. Thankfully it wasn't."
Rage built up within me as I was reminded of Marcus. All I could think of now was bashing Marcus's face to a wall and beating him up to a pulp. At the same time I was unnerved by the happenings. Things could have gotten out of hand and thinking of the consequences gave me a shiver down my back. Ethan must have noticed the change in my expression as he tried to change the topic in a hurry.
"I fixed your watch by the way," he said holding it up. I felt a pang of guilt instantly. I couldn't accept the watch for free after all he had done for me.
