(Chapter 2)(After doctors appointment)

We were getting out of dads truck, Silverfoot gave me my new crutches to go with my casted leg.
"Nadie, need to get that leg elevated." Dad said as we walked inside.
"This is your fault." I say to Jimmy. "Why did you enter the game?" Dad asked. "Because nobody else would go in, Daddy."
"And I was kicking ass out there, you saw me play." I say.
"And I heard the doctor."
"And if you don't heal properly, you may never play again." Dad said. I sat on the bed.
"I've got a meeting at the Pow Wow."
"You stay with her, this pain medication can have some side effects."
"Oh, no funny business, you two." Dad says glaring at Silverfoot.
"Right, because I can't
wait to hook up with the
guy that got my ankle
broken in two places." I say still aggravated.
"I told you, it's not my fault." Jimmy says.
"Nobody made you go in the game." He says.
"Okay, nobody had to, Jimmy." I say. "We needed a player and you were hurt, so I stepped up." I say, I started to lift my leg up onto the bed, it hurt bad and Jimmy tried to help but only made it worse.
"Ow! Okay, I said leave me alone!" I growled at him.
"Now we know the side effects." Silverfoot says rolling his eyes.

Silverfoot was helping me into my pajamas. "Don't look!" I say. "Okay, I'm not". He says while helping me into my night pants, with his eyes shut.

Dad came into my room. And he stomped his foot waking Jimmy, and nearly scaring him to death. "Oh!" Silverfoot said when he was woken from his snoring sleep in the chair beside my bed.
"How'd she get her pajamas on?" Dad asked.
"I didn't look, Mr. Logan. I swear." Jimmy said in defense and left my room hurriedly.

(Later)

"Hey, Grandma." I say as my grandmother came into the house.
"You have forced me into a very difficult position,Mother." Dad says to grandma.
"For the good of our people.Yes." Grandma says to dad.
"Hey, Lady Bug, how is the leg?" She asked me.
"It still hurts a little." I say.
"Keep it elevated, So the swelling goes down." She says kissing my forehead.
"I am." I say.

"I have decided the manner of your spirit quest." Dad says to my brother Joe.
"You will return to the Creator's game." Dad says.
"Return?" Joe asked confused.
" No, you don't play."
"Our coach quit and I'm not a suitable replacement." Dad says.
"Well, neither am I." Joe says.
"I have a business to run." Joe says.
"Which will not expand as you wish, unless you do as I require." Dad says.
"Dad, you know why I don't play anymore." Joe says.
"I do, and they call it
the "medicine game" for a reason."
"Let it heal you."
"Our next game is tomorrow, the season ends on Memorial Day." Dad says.
"I'm only half Sunaquot,
shouldn't that mean only half a season?" Joe tried.
"Restore pride to our people, and their game."
"That is your first obligation." Dad says to my older brother.
"There's more?" Joe asked.
"To re-examine your spirit." Dad says finally.

"Yeah, can you give me some defined deliverables on that?" Joe asked.
"No, but I know who can.
Is it within my power to assign him a spiritual advisor?" Dad asked.
"It is most certainly." Grandma says.
"Good, then I assign you." Dad says gesturing towards grandma.
"So, what? You're my babysitter now?" Joe asked.
"That's how roll, baby." Grandma laughed.
"Great." Joe says.
