*********************Draco's POV***********************
Getting off the train I feel stairs burn at the back of my head. Long used to the judgment I ignore them and continue walking, whoever they were most likely aren't worth my time anyway. I feel an arm wrap around mine and I resist the urge to pull away. I didn't look over I already know its Pansy, always thinking that she can make contact with me without my consent. I didn't pull away because she gets her feelings hurt really easily and I needed her around for when I need a distraction. I feel her get closer as she leans up to say something in my ear.
" I missed you," she says in what I guess she thinks is a seductive voice. I choose to ignore her and continue walking. Blaise walks up beside Theodore and I beside him.
"Hey Draco, hey Pansy," Theodore says.
"Hey Theo," Pansy says. Once again I choose to ignore them and continue to walk. While on the train we were all told not to go to our common room, but to go straight to the great hall. I hear the name Elizabeth yelled by someone behind me. I look up and see a familiar Gryffindor turn around quite quickly, her hair whipping around, a smile lighting up her eyes. She seems to look through me at the person behind me. Smiling even more she stops and waits. Walking past her I bump into her slightly, remembering who she is. She's one of the golden trios golden friends. I don't she what's so golden about them. They seem to get in more trouble than a Slytherin, even though they're no were near Slytherin material, Slytherins at least wouldn't get caught. I'm pretty sure that she's the quiet one though. Enough of this Draco, I think to myself. What are you doing spending more time than you need to thinking about a Gryffindor?
We arrive at the great hall seeing that the first years have somehow already been sorted. I look over to our usual spot at the Slytherin and find that some ignorant first years are sitting there. Walking over to the tables I hear whispers of, "they're so dead" "if you value your life move," "I told you that spot was taken" before we even make it to the table the first years have scurried away. All but one that continues to sit there. "Oh shit" "he's so dead" is heard among the table.
"Move you little sh.." Blaise begins but I cut him off.
" You've got nerve kid," I say. The kid has yet to turn around but I'm pretty sure he's finally recognized whose spot he's sitting in. He moves to get up but I push him back down. "No, it's okay, stay," I say stunning some people. They were sure I was going to at the very least hex him. I sit down, so does Blaise, Theodore, and Pansy. The kid sits there fidgeting in his seat obviously scared out of his wits. I smirk, knowing why he was scared. "What's your name kid?" I ask looking at Blaise and Theodore who are sitting across from me.
"Uh... J.. Justin.." he says tripping over his own words. I smirk yet again. I go to say something else but I'm cut short by the voice of McGonagall. I hear Justin breath a sigh of relief.
"Students, attention please, we have all had a very trying year, I'm glad to see that so many of you have decided to come back this year. After the war wreaked havoc on Hogwarts School we had to take some time rebuilding. Hogwarts is almost fully restored except for some parts of the castle. I am so sorry that I must say that the Slytherin common room received the most damage and is still not fully restored so the Slytherin house is going to be split to stay with the other houses until the Slytherin common room is fixed. They sorting hat is informed of the circumstances and will resort the Slytherin's into the other the houses they will be best compatible with. We will begin with the sorting then we will eat." McGonagall says, and I look up shocked. How could the Slytherin rooms not be fixed? Those should have been the first fixed. At this point I'm extremely angry. The entire table was upset. What makes me almost livid is that we're going to be stuck with the other houses for Merlin knows how long. I sit there and glare at the table as McGonagall begins sorting out the Slytherins. The feeling of Pansy moving snaps me out of my anger-induced trance. I look and notice that Blaise, Crabbe, and Theodore are all gone. I look around and see Pansy sit on the stool the hat speaks before it even touches her head.
"Hufflpuff," the hat says simply, no surprise there. I watch her walk away and notice Theodore sitting at the Gryffindor table, which is an extreme surprise to me. I then notice Blaise and Crabbe sitting at the Ravenclaw table. I'm not surprised about Blaise, but I am surprised about Crabbe. I thought he could barely read?
"Draco Malfoy," I hear McGonagall say, and dread hits the pit of my stomach. I feel my body stand on its own accord. I put on my usual mask hiding my true feelings with a façade of boredom and superiority. I sit on the chair as McGonagall places the hat on my head. The suspense hanging in the air was so thick it seemed as if you could cut it with a knife.
"Mr. Malfoy I've been waiting for you... I've decided that you get a fresh start... I know just where to put you...Gryffindor" I hear the hat say and denial rushes through my body, soon followed by fear. Somehow I manage to keep on my mask of boredom that I then add some annoyance to. Standing up I keep my eyes fixed on Theodore, who thankfully has an empty seat next to him. I sit next to Theodore and he claps me on the back. Looking up I meet the deep sky blue eyes of the same Gryffindor as before.
