  BRIDGETTE POV

She looked over at Sadie, she was helpless.

“Poor little girl, “Bridgette said to herself, “now all her little friends hate her. Now I just need Kyle to hate her and my plan will be complete.”

“What did you say?!” Kyle yelled.

She forgot Kyle came back from getting his lunch.

“I said. Um. Ah,” she couldn’t come up with something fast enough.

“All this time you were trying to turn everyone against her weren’t you?”

“Kyle listen, Sadie is ruining our lives. If she doesn’t have any friends she won’t bother you anymore which means she won’t bother both of us. Please don’t tell her!” Bridgette said desperately.

“No. Bridgette if you are trying to ruin someone else’s life just so we can be together then I don’t want to be with you anymore.”

Just as he finished, Sadie walked up to the table.

        “What’s wro-“

“Let’s go Sadie,” Kyle grabbed her arm and led her away.

Bridgette was mad.

“You better watch your back Sadie White,” she said to herself, “If you thought you were a complication now, just wait.”

Bridgette quickly got up and walked away. She needed to find Brendon.

JAY POV

Sadie was a problem. At least to everyone else but him. It hurt him to treat her like that but he thought it would be best. As he walked home in the rain he thought of all the possibilities of how he could tell Sadie he liked her without Miranda knowing. And he didn’t want to break up with Miranda either. It wasn’t going to be easy. Maybe he shouldn’t tell her. But he wanted to so bad.

“I’ve got it!” He shouted to no one the sidewalk. He ran home to start his plan.

When he dashed past his drunken parents and went up to his room, he pushed the dirty clothes off his bed and turned on his chat messenger. She was on.

He typed:

Bballguy123: Hey Sadie. Listen, I’m really sorry about today at lunch I was hiding my...emotions because of something.

A new message popped up on the screen:

Sadie.white1994: its okay I guess. I just wished you would have talked to me when I went over to you guys. But I guess you all hate me now so...

Bballguy123: We don’t hate you. It’s Bridgette, why are you even hanging out with her?

Sadie.white1994: Because she apologised for everything and offered me a seat at their table so I took it. I didn’t want another fight.

Bballguy123: Oh. I’m sorry. I’ll explain to the guys tomorrow but right now I have to tell you something.

Sadie.white1994: Sure what is it?

Jay’s parents barged in and drug him away from the computer.

“How come you grades have been down?” His dad slapped Jay.

“I-I I don’t know,” Jay stammered.

“Bring them up or you’re going to get hurt. Badly” His dad threw Jay back in his room and slammed the door.

Looking at the screen, Jay saw what Sadie had written.

Sadie.white1994: Hello? Jay?

Sadie.white1994: Jay what did you want to tell me?

Sadie.white1994: Ok then. Bye

Sadie.white1994 appears to be offline.

“Crap.” He said.

“Hey what are you doing?!” He yelled as his parents roughly threw him onto the couch.

          “Shut up!” His mother screamed.

Jay’s eyes widened as he took in their angry expressions.

“Someone wants to talk to you,” his father growled.

Jay’s mom got up and handed the phone to him, “I don’t care if you have to lye do whatever you have to do to get them to stop calling or we will beat you so hard your hair will hurt,” she whispered in his ear.

He gulped, nodded and took the phone, “H-hello?”

“Hi son, I’m a representative of C.A.P.P. the child abuse prevention program. I got some calls from neighbours saying that they saw you go into your house and come out with fresh bruises,” he paused, Jay’s mouth felt like sand paper, “now listen son, no one wants to hurt you or your parents but if your parents are hurting you then we want to do something about it, we’re just trying to help you and that would be a whole lot easier if you could just tell us what’s been going on around there, okay?”

The man sounded nice enough but one look at his parents menacing faces were enough to convince Jay that the consequences were too high.

“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he crossed his fingers, “my parents have never hit me in my life, I mean I’m sure our neighbours were just trying to be helpful but I am not getting abused.”

          “Are you sure about that?”

“Yes, I’m kind of clumsy; I hit my head off things all the time, that’s probably why our neighbours saw bruises.”

“Alright,” the man sighed, “if you say so, we’re required to swing around and check it out for ourselves any way, it makes my job harder but sometimes the kids aren’t entirely truthful.”

Jay winced, he felt bad for the man even though he barely knew him. He also felt bad for himself, either he had a lot of cleaning to do or he was going to a foster home.

        “Okay, when?”

“We like to make surprise visits, but if your parents don’t abuse you like you said, then you have nothing to worry about,” he answered.

        “Uh huh,” he swallowed noisily.

        “Good day.”
