The Mechonis Core was where I first awoke eons ago. It was a very large, rusty, and dirty room, compared to the clean, well-maintained city of Agniratha I was used to. Obviously, no one had been there for a long time.

"System. On," I said.

At my command, all of the fluorescent orange control panels and computers lit up, illuminating the room. One of the panels flew above my head and scanned me, verifying that I was the true soul of Mechonis. A projection of my body appeared on screen, and I knew whatever movement I made would control the titan.

I gasped as I saw the Monado coming in for another blow. Quickly, I moved my arms so that the Mechonis would block the attack with its sword. Before the Bionis could do any more, I attempted to drive the sword through its chest, but Zanza pushed it away.

"Meyneth," A deep voice rang throughout the room.

I looked around. There was no one else there. "Who are you? Show yourself!"

The moving image of a Giant appeared on a panel in front of me. I squinted. Something about that Giant seemed familiar to me. "Arglas!" I recognized him as Egil's friend, who I met once.

"No. Zanza." He said.

"What?" Zanza looked similar to a human, or Homs and they say on Bionis, with blonde hair and a normal skin tone, even though he was a god like me.

"Yes. I'm simply borrowing this body for now."

I was shocked. "Why are you doing this? Why are you trying to kill all these innocent people?"

Zanza shook his head. "The Machina have grown insolent under your protection, so they must be punished. Besides, this world only needs one god." He smirked menacingly.

"Is that your reason?" I said bitterly. "You fool!"

The screen went blank before he could say anything else. Heat coursed through my veins and I glared. I would not stop fighting until I took Zanza down.

"Yah!" I yelled as I struck the Bionis. It staggered back and then tried to hit Mechonis.

For decades, maybe even centuries, we fought. But at some point along the way, our life forces began to deplete. I grew weaker and weaker. Barely able to defend myself, Zanza was able to slice the Mechonis' left arm off. The Mechonis fell to one knee and plunged its sword straight through the Bionis' right side. My eyes drooping, I collapsed, unable to do anymore. At that, both titans froze mid-battle.

Lying on the ground, I thought. This battle is far from over. I focused some of my remaining energy on Zanza. He was imprisoned on what appeared to be a floating island near the Bionis' head. He's conserving his energy. One day, he will be released once more. But by who?

I continued to focus on Zanza. One thing I noticed was that he nor the Bionis wielded the Monado. I transferred the energy on finding it. It was locked up, like its owner, in a tower surrounded by ice. Putting the pieces together, I came to a conclusion.

Arglas is only a temporary body. He must have come in contact with the Monado in order for Zanza to possess him. Once the peoples of Bionis realized the Monado's power, they locked it and Zanza away. Now Zanza is awaiting the day he will be released by the heir to the Monado, the one person other than he who can wield the sword. I must conserve my energy for that day.

And then, with the last vestiges of my life force, I moved my soul into the statue of myself and entered a deep slumber.
