A/n- Not much, just a little chapter to prove that I am still alive. You should read this, otherwise you might be a bit confused, but I guess it's not necessary.
Knockout was halfway done finishing up with his patient when the doors to the med-bay opened up, allowing a large blue mech with a bold orange face to walk in. Knockout turned around to see who had entered his med-bay without so much as a knock, but once he saw whom it was, it was no surprise there was lack of care.
"Oh, Breakdown, how nice of you to finally show up. Do tell what took you so long," Knockout said, putting his hands on his hips and ignoring the critical state of his current patient.
"Sorry, Knockout," the blue mech chuckled, "Not really my fault though. I was out on a mission assigned to me by Megatron. Kind of cared more about not coming back empty-handed than how long it took." Knockout huffed in response, turning back to the banged up mech on the berth. "What's the condition?"
"Got up close and personal with one of the Autobots. Which one was it again?" Knockout asked the patient whilst he lay on the birth in great pain.
"B-Bulkhead, sir," the mech managed to choke out.
"Hah! You got a whoopin' from that lug of a mech?" Breakdown mused. The mech only groaned, not having enough tolerance to the pain of speaking anymore.
"Hmph," Knockout grunted, acknowledging the painful sound, "better get back to work..." With that, he returned to repairing the wounded vehicon, Breakdown joining him without needing to be asked. A few minutes after getting back to work, Breakdown went to the side of the room in search for a tool necessary to complete the repair of the vehicon. As he went for the bin that was holding the new human pet, Knockout noticed and had a sudden wave of panic wash over him.
"Breakdown, I moved everything out of that. The welder should be on the counter over there," Knockout pointed away from his pet's box. Breakdown acknowledged his partner by nodding and walking in the direction he had gestured to. Breakdown seemed to have no questions about why Knockout would empty a random box, but really his mind was racing. It wasn't like Knockout to disturb the organized system he had made over the long time he's been aboard the ship, and, even in different locations, he usually keeps to the same familiar flow. Keeping his thoughts in his head, Breakdown continued to help put the finishing touches on the patient in the med-bay.
"That's seems to be it. You're free to go," Knockout dismissed the newly repaired vehicon, who nodded his thanks before leaving the med-bay.
"Well, looks like finally I get some free time. You up for a drive?" Breakdown asked, leaning against a wall. Knockout set down the tool he was holding and looked over at his partner.
"A drive definitely seems nice," Knockout nodded.
The partners drove out of the ground bridge and down a road in a forest, chatting over the comm. link. They frequently would do this when they had the time, appreciating a bit of freedom from the large metal ship in the sky. They were currently driving down a road somewhere in the state of Pennsylvania, surrounded by trees and all sorts of Earth's wildlife.
The two continued to drive for a few hours, enjoying themselves as they chatted away about stories from back on Cybertron, odd Earth customs, and sometimes gossiping about their comrades aboard the Nemesis. It was finally dark when they entered a small town, similar to the town in Nevada that [y/n] was from. Passing several driveways, stop signs, and traffic lights, it seemed the humans in this town were quite strict about curfew because no one was roaming the streets. Knockout and Breakdown didn't mind this at all. It meant more peace.
Knockout paused when he saw a pile of boxes with a sign saying, "Free," at the end of a driveway. His mind immediately shifted to [y/n] and how she would probably need things like clothes, food, and entertainment. The boxes could have everything he'd need for taking care of a human. Once Breakdown noticed his partner's halt, he stopped, too.
"Uh, Knockout, you okay?" he asked, a bit concerned. Instead of responding, Knockout transformed and began picking up the boxes.
"Open your trunk," Knockout demanded.
"Why are you-"
"Research," Knockout lied.
"Okay then..." Breakdown was incredibly confused but obliged and opened the door to his trunk. Knockout began packing the boxes quickly so there was less chance of being seen by any humans, not checking to see what contents they held. Once he finished, he shut Breakdown's trunk and transformed back into his alt mode.
"Alright, now, let's go," he said, driving off with Breakdown following close behind.
"What kind of research are you doing on boxes?" Breakdown asked, still incredibly confused about his partner's action.
"It's not the boxes," Knockout scoffed, "It's the items inside. I'm interested in the human objects they contain, mostly things concerning cosmetics. I want to know how humans handle their appearance."
"Fair enough," Breakdown shrugged.
