I opened my eyes and jolted forward.
I can feel my legs again... and my arms...
Where am I...?
I looked at my right arm... its bandaged.
"Your awake... that's good... I almost thought that you..."
I looked to my left to see a girl walked in. She's human.
She has short brown hair, light green eyes and looks about my age.
She is wearing a tight white shirt, and long blue jeans, torn around the bottom.
"Where am I...?"
The girl frowned.
"You... I... I..."
The girl sat down next to me.
I slowly looked around the room. The walls are made of old white plaster, there are a few chairs around a small table, and a miniature sink next to a small stove.
The girl looked at me.
"Thank god you're alive... I could never live with myself if... If I knew I let you be killed by Lance..."
If she let me be killed by... Lance...? How does-
"Lexus...?"
The girl nodded her head.
"Yes."
"Your part of the organization?"
Lexus nodded.
"I am. Though, the others don't know I'm a girl... they just see the mask."
"Why do you stay with them...?"
Lexus bit her lip.
"You aren't going to yell at me? Scold me? Tell me that I am worthless?"
Huh?
"No... I... I wouldn't do that. I couldn't. Not even after... after Lance..."
Lexus looked away from me.
"You are... kind. Looks like Alexander got through to you."
I nodded.
"He probably doesn't even know where I'm at..."
Lexus looked towards the door.
"Were in the human slums."
"The slums..."
Lexus clenched her fist.
"Yes. Were just outside the city limits, living in poor conditions... but I am not going to tell you a sob story. You have much more of a reason than I do."
"You carried me here...?"
Lexus nodded.
"Yes. I had to take you away from the other organization members, so I brought you here-to my home."
"Your home...?"
Lexus looked around the room with her eyes.
"Yes. After Altair died... the organization started to live in the slums, unassuming like the rest of the humans."
"I'm sorry..."
Lexus looked at me with a small cringe.
"Don't say that you're the one who is sorry. None of this is your fault-"
"Maybe not but it is the Valarians, isn't it?"
Lexus slightly looked away.
"You shouldn't feel bad for your race-they won't return the favor. Same goes for us."
