"Long day of working." Sander said after he settled down by the window. "Tell me about it." I pulled a few strands of hair off of my face. "At this rate I think you will have learned every spell there is in a couple of days." I laughed at the idea. "I'm sure there are thousands of spells out there. At the pace I'm going I might be able to learn them all when I'm twenty-five." Sander joined in on my laughter. "I'll be right back. I'm going down to the kitchen to see when dinner will be." I stood up and walked to the door stopping for a brief second to make sure everything look normal then I left.
I walked down the stairs quickly, eager to lie down again and rest. I turned the corner to the kitchen and the smell of cooking foods overwhelmed me. Helga was standing at the stove stirring something in the pot in front of her. I walked over to the counter top and leaned an elbow against it. "Smells good." When I was close enough for her to hear me. she nodded once and put a lid on a pot. She turned to face me. "What are you cooking?" I asked when she was all the way around. "Soup." She replied. I nodded once and took another whiff of the smells surrounding me.
"Can you let me know when dinner is ready?" I asked. "Yes, of course." She said and I turned around to head back up the stairs. "Elizabeth?" I heard Helga call after me warily. I turned back suspicious. "You found the book of En-zar?" she asked timidly. I blinked. Of course she had seen the book the other day when she brought my dinner to me. When I didn't answer her she continued. "I will not tell anyone. I have not told anyone." I shook my head. "How do you know about the book?" I asked, my voice shaking. "I have been here with you family since the sixteen hundreds. They had the book already. I have seen it." My eyes widened. "What?" Was all I managed to say?
"Kalan put a curse on me. I can not move from this limbo until it is lifted. I was hoping you could do it since you have the book of En-zar." I blinked uncertain about what to say. "I do not belong here anymore. My time has passed." Helga said he tone almost pleading. "I'll see what I can to." I managed. I turned and head up the stairs quickly. I was astonished. What id she did tell my parents? If she did tell then I would be doomed. I had no idea what would happen but I knew it wasn't good. I hurried back into my room. Sander stood up when he saw me.
"Helga knows about the book." I told him frantically. "I knew she did. She probably knows about me too." Sander said calmly. I looked at him dumbfounded. "What are you so calm about?" I asked in disbelief. "Well even if she does know I'm here its not going to make any difference. She is like me too, just still in her human body."He shrugged. "I hardly doubt that she will rat you out, or me in that matter and if she asked for your help then its fine." I shook my head. "I don't know. I just don't know." I shook my head back and forth.
I waited for a knock at my door. When it finally sounded and hurried down to the kitchen pouring myself a bowl of soup and then grabbing a glass and then filling it with water. I was a little thankful that my parents we not down at the dining table yet. I breathe a sigh of relief and scurried back up the stairs shutting my bedroom door behind me.
While I ate Sander did not say a word to me, and neither did I. when I finished eating I hurried back down the stairs to the kitchen but stopped short when I heard my parents voices carry over to the bottom of the stairs. "She doesn't really like spending time with us, does she?" My dad said sounding a little angry. "She's a teenager. She likes her space." My mother argued although she sounded curious too. "That's not what meant at all. I mean Elizabeth was always the one to keep to herself, but ever since we got here she stays buried in her room more than usual."
I crept around the corner poking my head out just enough to see them sitting at the table eating the last of their soup. "I guess she has been spending much time in here room." My mother said slowly. "I think she has been sneaking out too." My dad said sounding a little angrier. "Really?" my mom said with fake surprise. "Yes. But when I go look in her room she is still there laying down." My father continued.
"I guess we will have to keep an eye on her." My mother said at last. He nodded once and I shot back up the stairs in a panic.
