It was now almost 2 in the morning and Bobby and Diondre were sitting on the hood of Bobby's smelly, beat up Pinto eating their McFlurries and talking. Diondre was more than glad to get out of the nasty car and Bobby was glad his friend was feeling better.
"My stomach's already starting to feel better. That ice-cream did help!" Diondre said,
"I told ya, man. Works every time," Bobby smiled.
"Hey, man I gotta say somethin'," Diondre began, spooning out his McFlurry.
"Sure, shoot," Bobby said.
"Ya know how your car smells rank and you didn't realize how bad it smells? It reminds me of how sometimes, we think we got our act together when in reality our lives smell like rotten trash. Does that make any sense?"
Bobby sat there and thought about what Diondre was saying for a minute. Then he nodded.
"Yeah...it does,"
"It's important to keep our "car" clean, stay in God's word and in talkin' to Him so we are walking in His will--otherwise things start to stank," Diondre went on. Bobby took a bite of his McFlurry and sighed.
"What a cool analogy, Dion,"
"Just some deep thoughts from your neighborhood evangelist," Diondre said with a laugh, "but seriously, though--I apologize if the way I acted was rude, me coverin' my nose and saying your car smelled like a fermented hamburger--I was just annoyed,"
"It didn't offend me, bro. I needed to hear it. Now I know I need to clean it out tomorrow...unless you wanna help me tonight?"
"No, no we're good," Diondre said as quick as he could with a smile.
They both laughed.
