I sit on the couch with Aidan as we watch SpongeBob Squarepants. It was Saturday morning and Miley was asleep still.

Beep

I got up and answered the phone. "hello?" I said looking at Aidan. "Amber is that you?" the lady said over the phone. "mommy?" I ask. "yes it's mommy." she said.

I nodded to Aidan and mouthed 'mommy'. "bang girl mommy can't come home." she said and then the line went dead. I put the phone down and sat next to Aidan.

"She's not coming home." I say as I blink back tears. He holds me close as we continue to watch TV. Miley comes downstairs after three more episodes of spongebob.

"I'm sorry about last night Amber." she says. I keep my eyes forward. "she's not coming home, she called saying it." I tell her. I hear her sigh before she goes to the kitchen.
