I pulled on my coat, trying to ignore Owen's poking. I slapped his hand away. "God, why won't you go home already?" He frowned and poked me harder. "Because you'd cry too much" he replied. "Sure, what ever helps you sleep at night." "Where are we going?" Owen asked.
I turned to face him, surprised. "You were the one who said you wanted to go somewhere" "Yes, but I don't know Dublin" I sighed, This boy! "I have to be back by five anyway." Owen picked up my wrist to look at my watch. "It's only 1:30" He said. I pulled my wrist back.
I knocked on Bella's door. "Come in" I opened the door and made my way over to her. "Bella," I started looking at her with puppy dog eyes. "What!" "Pwease can I use your car?" She rolled her eyes, "How did I know you'd say that" "I'll bring home Kanum for dinner."
Bella's eyes lit up. Kanum was our favourite thai takeaway. Mmm, my mouth watered just thinking about it. "Fine" She huffed, standing up and searching through her bag. "But I want green curry" She ordered as she handed over the keys to her blue Ford Fiesta. I hugged her and jumped back.
"Thank you" I shouted as I raced out the door, grabbing my bag and Owen's hand. I pulled him out the door and down the corridor. We reached the car when I realised I was still clutching Owen's hand. I dropped it embarrassed as I unlocked the car and got in. I pushed back the seat and buckled up.
"Why is Bella so tiny?" I mumbled, whenever I drove Bella's car I had to move the seat back. She was a petite five foot two, while I was five foot eight.Owen turned the radio on as I pulled out of the parking space. "I got bills, I gotta pay, so I'mma work, wor"
I groaned and switched the radio station. "Say you'll remember me, standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset baby," I sung along, until Owen switched it off. "Hey" I complained. "Where are we going?" He asked, oblivious to my annoyance.
"Wait and see" I grumpily replied. "Where are we going, where are we going" Owen repeated, over and over agin. "FARRELL I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU DON'T SHUT UP" Owen shut up pretty quickly. The car was silent for less than five minutes.
"Where are we going? Where are we going? Are we there yet?" I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Farrell" I warned. "Sorry Mum" He retorted. I rolled my eyes, fighting a smile.
I drove further up the mountain, until I reached the car park. "Tick Nock," Owen read out the sign. "Where is this?" "It's three rock mountain, a walking trail" I told him as I parked and took out the key. I put them into the bag and got out. Owen surveyed the empty mountain. "You're going to kill me and bury me out here aren't you"
"Don't tempt me, Walk" I pushed him towards the barrier, marking the entrance to the path. We walked up the steep path, winding through the forest, occasionally peeking out at intervals, where Dublin could be seen. Within five minutes, both Owen and I were struggling for breath.
"It's steep huh?" I said, trying to break the silence. Owen nodded. "Nothing I can't handle" He boasted. I raised my eyebrows. We turned a corner and soon the telephone mast was in sight.
I smirked, "Race ya" I challenged and started to sprint towards the top of the mountain. Owen close behind me. I reached the wooden bench and flung myself down, just before Owen could pass me. I stuck my tongue out.
"Is this it?" Owen asked, looking around at the view of Dublin, the telephone mast and the various paths. "No! It's not called three rock for nothing" I laughed, and led him further along the path.
Amongst the heather and shrubbery, three massive rocks came into view. I bypassed the first two and headed straight for the third. I clambered up I to the top and sat, looking out over Dublin. Owen arrived beside me a minute later, unsteady on the rock.
We sat there for a minute, until Owen got up again. He walked around the rock, peering into the holes, and climbing around each part. I watched, amused.
Finally I stood up and we went to the next one. We spent an hour up at the top. Playing hide and seek, and messing around. At four o clock I stopped. "Come on, we have to go" I told Owen and he frowned.
"I can see why you like it here," he said as we started walking down. "Yeah, I love the mystery, each bend through the forest until you reach the flat top, with the rocks." I replied, smiling. "You love the outdoors don't you?" Owen remarked.
I nodded, "I guess so, I, I just feel so," I paused, trying to find a word. "Free" I finished off. Owen nodded, "That's why I love rugby, because when you play, nothing else matters."
I smiled, "Who would have known, Owen Farrell, a deep philosopher." I teased. Owen shook his head. "Well Erin, Erin," he stopped and looked at me. "What is your surname?" He asked. "Squires, Erin Squires," I told him.
"Well, Erin Squires, never judge a book by its cover, I thought you'd be fun, and nice, but you're mean and a terrible rugby player." I rolled my eyes. "Haha" I said, punching his arm.
"I'm not joking" He said, looking at me, wide eyed. The look I gave him cracked him up. We reached the car and I got in. As soon as Owen got in he reached for the radio. I slapped his hand away. "Don't even think about it"I warned and he withdrew his hand slowly.
"You're so bossy" he mumbled. "But it's all part of my charm" I replied sweetly.
