Percy Jackson. Gone

Chapter Ten. (Annabeth's POV)

Sighing, I sat up in bed. I checked my watch quickly, and started to get up. I always woke up a few minutes before I had to start waking the Athena campers up, so I could get my bearings.
After taking a few minutes, I stood up and walked over to Malcom's bed and shook him awake. He got up right away, (something I can never do at camp), and we started waking the kids up quietly. When everyone had gotten themselves decent I led them up to the dining hall and let Malcom take over. I went over to sit by a camper, Serenity. She waved at me and I smiled at her. "Hey Annabeth?" She asked.
"Hmm?"
"How do you know you're in love?"
Love. The word stung and quickly sent a flood of memories rushing through my head. Seeing Percy drool in his sleep, going on all the quests, holding the sky and remembering seeing Percy after those long days.
I took a bite of toast to figure out my answer.
"Serenity, I don't honestly know. I know you fall in love the way you fall asleep. Slowly and then all at once. Why are you asking?" I questioned.
Her cheeks were bright red. She quickly looked over at one of the Apollo kids, who I recognized as Keith.
"I, um, ah, no reason," she stuttered.
I laughed softly. "It's Keith, isn't it?"
She smiled wistfully. "Yeah."
"Talk to him. We have free choice soon. Ask him to help you out with archery."
"Should I? I don't know..." Serenity frowned.
"Go for it. Tell me how it goes later," I encouraged.
She sudden hugged me, and I just hugged her back for a minute.
Serenity then started eating her bagel again and staring at the Apollo boy.
Breakfast soon cleared up, and it was on to the first free choice of the day. I went down by the lake, with my book in hand. I laid down on the dock and started to read about a girl named Alaska and a boy in a new school.
As I read, I let my mind wander over various things, such as if Jason was safe, if Percy was safe, if I should go after Percy even though I said I wouldn't. My mind flashed back to the second Titan war, and Luke. I missed him. No doubt. I chuckled at the fact I used to have a crush on him, but then realized that my love for him was only like I love my brothers.
Thinking all these thoughts, I slowly drifted into a nightmare filled sleep.
