The next day I woke up in Skylar's room. I remembered laughing at Louis, I think his name was, and then watching a movie before falling asleep in the boys' suite. The best thing engraved in my memory was the Irish boy holding me gingerly carrying me to her room. He treated me like I was a delicate lily, but I was more of a strong, I don't know, maple tree? I looked over at the time. It was 7:30. Holy crap! I was going to be late!
"SKYLAR!!!" I shouted at my ginger friend, "we're going to miss the team meet!!!" I then ran down the hallway to my room, medals jingling annoyingly, and jammed the key into the lock. Of course it didn't work so I tried again impatiently. It finally opened on my 3rd try, and I ran in and stripped into my tan sports bra and the jeweled red leotard as my uniform. I hopped around, pulling on my warm ups, applying makeup to my tired eyes, I shoved my medals into the side of my custom duffle bag, checked for my grips, braces, and emergency kit. I grabbed 3 elasting rubber bands and threw my silver team scrunchie on my wrist. I then understood what my coach meant when he said I partied too hard. I walked out of my room with my duffle bag on my shoulder, and began to French braid my thick gold hair. I braided tiny braids all around my head then French braided them with my loose hair and finally pulled it into a high messy bun. As I searched around in my gym bag, I noticed I didn't have my phone, so I turned, ran back to the hotel room, and grabbed the sparkling case from my bedside table and the phone from its docking system. I clicked on the case while speed walking down the hall. I checked it 32 texts from Skylar asking why I was taking so long, where I was, well you get it. I also had 2 texts from Niall, and a video message. I opened the video message and it was them singing a parody of one of their songs. They all sang,
"I want you to Rock beam, rock beam, rock beam, yah I want you to hand spring, hand spring, hand spring, yah. I want you to swing on those bars, fly over that spring board, leap on the floor! Cuz I'm rooting for your team, your team, your team. Yah!"
They always knew how to make me smile, at the end Louis said, "and if you do one of those cool flippity flips really good, i will marry you!"
Then Harry said, "NO! She's mine!" Meanwhile Liam and Niall were having a conversation about of they were rooting for our country if they wanted USA to win.
I checked the time 8:46 already? Awe crap! I thought while remembering that competition ended at 8:50. I ran down the hall to the gravel paths leading to the gym. A couple of people cheered and rooted me on, some guys whistled, nothing I wasn't used to. I arrived t 8:49 and was successfully checked in at 8:50.
"We're you trying to see how much we would sweat before you got here?" Coach asked when I started stretching in the mats. I blew off the comment, because he says that all the time because I tend to be late for stuff a lot. Skylar tackled me in a hug which was completely normal even though I was in the splits. I saw those sparkling blue eyes from the seats 17 rows up and got butterflies in my stomach. But not for the boy, for the nerves, right? I asked myself. I couldn't have a crush on this boy who magically appeared in my life yesterday, it didn't work like that. I hoped.
