We bumped into each other that faithful day, our eyes met and we stared into each other's souls
- is what I'd like to say what happened but in truth it went a little like this :-
"Pssst An- dreamer get upppppp, old Miss Monstrosity is coming !!!"
Who was that disturbing my slumber ? like seriously just let me beeee....
"Too late".
"Andrea ! Sleeping again I see, get out right this instant and stand outside the class !"
Ughhhh not on the first day of the new semester - I thought I might start over with a clean slate this year but it doesn't seem like that's happening. I dragged my half asleep towards the door - there was no pleading with Miss Monstrosity and I refused to plead either way. I got to the door and was about to open it when someone else opened it from the outside. My jaw dropped - no it was not Prince Charming, it was ....... who was this ? A shock of blue hair mingling in his original black hair, lean and a bit taller than me wearing a black hoodie with beige cargo pants. He looked right at me and in a second my sleepy self was woken and I stared into his ......... wait what yellow eyes ???'
"Andrea let the young man through, before we start anything today class I would like to introduce you to our new transfer student. Please come in and introduce yourself ."
Our eye contact broke and he walked past me as I made way for him. So wait do I still get out or stay in ? Lets just stay in for a bit longer, I thought as I shuffled about near the door. So this was the new transfer student huh ? Well hopefully he can fit in because his hair will certainly make him stand out - haha puns.
He stood in front of the white board and was about to speak when the fire alarm rang.
This wasn't a drill we had been informed of - the door was still open and as I looked towards it I saw faint traces of smoke beginning to lurk around; a teacher ran in, " There is a fire in the building, leave everything and evacuate in an orderly fashion with the help of your teacher here."
Wow things escalated quickly in just one morning and that too the first day of school ! " Everyone remain calm and form pairs with the person near you and then follow me, we need to evacuate so make it quick !", said Miss Monstrosity, then seeing me near the door she said " Andrea don't dilly dally, take the new kid with you and start walking, we have no time for introductions and he does not know his way around the school".
I realized the urgency of the situation and grabbed the dazed new kid by the arm, "Hey I'm Andrea, we gotta get out of here right NOW so just stay close".
Before I knew it the entire class was rushing for the door following our teacher out of the class. There was just one thing - I wasn't counting on was the amount of confusion outside- it was chaos with students crowding the hallways each trying to stay with their class and I feared that I might get swept away in the turmoil.
As we made our way through the hallways and down the stairs ( since our class was on the third floor ), it was getting harder to navigate through the stream of students and I was feeling claustrophobic- Great I never got any sleep and now I can hardly breathe let alone follow my own class. I felt a sudden sense of urgency , where was the new kid ? I looked around ,"Damn it I lost him, HEY DUDE WHERE ARE YOU ?", I heard a voice from somewhere behind me say "I'M HERE !" Shit he was all the way back there and if I left the class now it would be hard finding them again, but then again the new kid might get stuck in the burning building," I'm coming !!".
I pushed my way through girls and boys of different ages to where I heard the voice, trying to find him. I was beginning to feel dizzy with the smoke, the crowd and all this confusion. All of a sudden I tripped over someones leg and was heading straight towards the floor....I heard a skidding sound and landed on something soft. This wasn't something , it was someone - I looked up and saw the new kid's grinning face.
"Hey my name's Malcolm and as you can see I've fallen for you".
Hey guys thanks for reading my new chapter of "A.N.D.R.E.A.". Hope you enjoyed it and will continue following Andrea's and new student, Malcolm's endeavour to escape a burning school .
