I remember the day my best friend had promised nothing would change. The day that we sat in the backyard, sinking our teeth into Golden Gayimes in the heat of summer. Usually we'd get plenty of heat waves in Australia but this day was really hot. It must have been a record.

"You don't think anything will change in high school, right?" I ask quietly, looking down.

August let out this bark of laughter, "You must be kidding, right? Everything will change, Elliot. Just not us."

I held out my pinky and he rolled his eyes and took mine anyways. After we had sealed it, we played soccer for a little bit. I hated called it soccer, I'd rather call it football. I always wanted to play on a football team for championships and such. As we were called in for dinner that night, I had this weird feeling that everything was going to be alright.

But it never was.

So this was just a rewind type thing. It was short and boring, yes I know. Anyways, my new book, first book actually is this one. Saving August.
