Smiles. Smiles were meant to be shown when you laugh. They were meant to be shown when you're just simply being happy. But through the years we humans have discovered that we can fake a smile. Even though we are dying on the inside we have found a way to smile. Some people can see through this facade we have put on, but not everyone have that ability. Some people go around acting like everything is fine, when in reality people around them are hurting. You can't blame them though. The people with the fake smiles, had a choice. They chosed between keeping their feelings locked up inside of them, and letting them out for the world to see. And they were afraid, afraid what the world would say, so they locked them up. They let their feelings be locked up inside of them, growing and growing until they just broke. And suddenly the girl with the happy smile weren't so happy anymore. To the people around her, this was a mystery. When had she suddenly turned to this sad, empty person? They questioned themself that all the time, but they never seemed to get it. They didn't understand that the girl had had her feelings bottled up inside of her all this time. They didn't understand that she hadn't been the girl with a happy smile in a long, long time.

Because of her mistake, because of the fact that she broke and no one was there to help her, her life went downhill. She never felt so alone, and she needed a way to express her feelings. She needed for someone to see her and actually help her out of all the misery she was feeling. Sure people had noticed her sadness, but no one had noticed her depression. So with the help of a blade she drew on her wrist, and hoped that someone would notice. Ofcourse there were other ways to handle it. Cutting wasn't the only way. Listeners were all around her, but this time it was her that didn't see them and honestly, she didn't even look.

People started to notice more and more that something wasn't right. They now had gotten it confirmed that she wasn't happy at all. Because the girl with a happy smile, didn't even have a smile playing on her lips anymore. She had gotten used to crying herself to sleep every night, and the girl with a no longer happy smile had no one there to comfort her. Her family had already gone to bed when she lied in her bed and silently cried. She always looked at her scars one last time before she fell asleep and wondered where it all went wrong. Because believe it or not, she once truly was the girl with a happy smile.

There was a boy who would see her walk through the corridors of the school every day. He would always see her, he would always see the sad, empty look on her face and wonder. Just like her, he would wonder what had happened with the girl with a happy smile. Everyday he would watch her and not in a creepy way, he would watch her because he had always found a liking in the girl. She would always walk through the corridors with a happy smile, but one day that suddenly changed. The boy had kept playing scenes in his head where he would go and talk to the girl, ask her what's wrong, but he never did and for that he felt awful. But one day he saw her walk through the corridor with the same look on her face and this time he couldn't let her walk past him. The boy went to talk to the girl and the girl had never felt happier than in that moment. There finally was someone who were willing to listen to her, someone who really cared.

The girl opened up to him with no second thoughts and he listened to her. He listened to every word she said and he comforted her every time she broke down crying. She told him about every time she would cut herself in hope that someone would notice, and the boy couldn't help but to blame himself a little even though she told him not to. He thought about all the pain that she felt and he couldn't let it go. But to her it was all fine. Sure she had felt a lot of pain, but now when she finally had someone by her side it didn't matter, because they would work this out, together. And once again she was the girl with a happy smile.
