"Finally! it was time to save my parents!" I thought, then followed Max out of the room closing the door behind me. Little did I know that the green blinking light I had been looking at the whole time was not supposed to be inside the super secret meeting room, much less the DS itself at all.
**********************************************************************************************
Let me just tell you first off, I was very inexperienced, and I mean very very inexperienced. Max and I were the rookies of the room, practically the entire building, and we were obviously the only one who had noticed the light, we didn't see that it was a big deal. Personally I just assumed that it was a camera, you know? To keep track of the other spies around the table. It was a big mistake we should have called out. And that brings me back to when everything really started to go wrong.
You see, it was a few months after the whole intruder thing. We had been going on these crazy missions for the director to get us out of the headquarters so he could conduct investigations. He even gave Max and I our own team. We quickly became one of the best groups in the 'spy world' and I guess to everyone else this was a huge accomplishment. Our team was strong with some of the top teen agents. We had your typical awesome spy team.
We had our tech genius, a guy named Manny Nuella Manny is a short heavy set guy, but even though he doesn't look it he can fight really well and he is a great sparring partner. From his name you can probably tell that he is of some Latin decent and you are right, he is but the team could care less about where you're from, and his Spanish to English translating skills are the bomb. Now he may not sound like a dude you want to hang out with, but I promise he rocks. He is a year older than the rest of us but that doesn't really matter because he is still a highschooler just like the rest of us. And over the past few months he has proven trustworthy and amazingly useful to the team.
Somehow some way he managed to get his boyfriend on our team, our super spy. He is the guy that can pretend he is anyone and get by security like he was the CEO of a company. I think Manny must have begged on his knees at the Directors feet to get the two of them on the same team, but the begging paid off for all of us because if we didn't have Cameron Sav're on the team, I would have been blown to bits. That guy is something. Really is tall, muscular, built and brilliant. He is essentially our way into any place we cant sneak into. His acting is flawless, his poker face is impeccable, and I am almost jealous of the two of them because they are the cutest couple in the world, and my first boyfriend was a double agent. We can talk about that later.
Now we have a lot of relationships in the group, because ad you already know Max and I are siblings, Cameron and Manny are dating, and the last amazing member of our group is Cameron's sister. Stacy is the most aware of the rest of us. She is also super sweet. Even though the whole group had only been together for a few months we are all really close. She is like the sister I never had. Stacy is skilled all the way around. She can fight, sing, spy, and she is a good listener. You may think that those are not qualities that you need to be a spy, but she is by far a better spy than my brother and I.
Max as you know is as new at the whole spy thing at I am, but he is way better adjusted than me. He is like the comedy relief. He is also the main strategist. His plans no matter how dumb they may seem always work. And to be well functioning team, you always need a game plan. Max always has them. He might also a have really huge crush on Stacy but that is really none of our business.
Last but not least is me. As you may have guessed, or may not have, I am the leader. I was also appointed by all of the others as the leader. Trust me it was not my choice. I am told that I am a good leader, but I don't really agree. I've never been a leader in anything which is why I am always super worried about the missions we go on. The others have amazing talents that I can't compare with. They are all amazing at what they do. They are good at their jobs. Me? Not so much. But I am a leader and even if it is not my favorite thing I do what I have to. And that's all that matters.
Here I am rambling about myself, you guys want action. There is plenty of action coming up, you better get comfy. You see as I already told you we had been going on missions non-stop for the past few months with hardly any break time. We were all exhausted and ready to fall over walking into the headquarters after our most recent mission. It had been the most difficult one by far, and we were almost caught. Thanks to Manny we got out, but it was a close call. As the leader I felt it was my fault. I was about to voice my apology when Cameron, who was in front of us stopped. I was about to complain and ask him why he interrupted our walking when he held his hands up. It was one of our team signals telling us something was wrong. This made me worried. That was a rarely used motion yet it had been used twice today. It just isn't out day is it? I thought as I slipped up to where he was.
Why did you stop? Did something happen? I signed.
You are probably wondering what that means. You see I figured that when we were on missions we would need a way to contact Manny when he was watching us through the cameras, or each other when we hid so I made us all learn sign language when we had begun team training. That was the best decision I had made for the group. We sign to each other all the time. It really comes in handy.
Do you really want to know? He signed back.
I nodded furiously and signed Yes! If something happened we needed a plan.
He paused and looked back around the corner to the main room. Follow me. He slipped down the hall to our dorms crept inside his. I turned to the others and motioned for them to follow. Without a second thought we followed Cameron down the halls.
"Dude! What was that? Why did you stop us?" Max asked as Stacy shut the door behind us.
Cameron turned towards us. His face was pale and he looked scared. This was a shock to all of us. He was never scared.
"Listen, I'm sorry okay? I didn't mean to make a big deal out of nothing but I forgot that I needed to talk about something with you guys before we debrief with Witherstone and Lena. After I talk with them, they...they send me on a solo." Cameron chocked out. " They want me to go out and do some stuff for them, but I have a bad feeling about it. I wasn't supposed to tell you guys and I know I am breaking the rules, but I something feels off about this mission. Somethings not right. That's why you're all in my room. I'm giving you a copy of my file." He handed me a folder. " Here go 'shower' or what ever, go to your rooms, debrief, and meet back with Raina to read the file. I'll be gone by then but it is a pretty close target area. Now go and do something so we don't seem suspicious" He said as he pushed us out of his doorway.
As he shut the door Manny yelled " We are spies babe, we are always suspicious." Manny walked down the hall with his shoulders down.
"Meet in your room in fifteen?" Stacy asked as she started after Manny.
"Yup, see you then." I said and grabbed Max by the arm. Cameron wasn't the only one with bad feelings.
"We need to talk before we meet with the others. I need to tell you something." I said and pulled Max along the hallway after me.
