Our new house was small, but it was a real home, not the old apartment I was used to. It was cozy, and I fell in love with my room immediately. What I didn't love was the alarm clock telling me it was time for my first day of school. I hadn't slept good, checking my laptop every few minutes to see if Shawn had sent me a text, but I was waiting for nothing.

Sliding into my leggings, I grab my empty backpack, not knowing what supplies I'll need. Downstairs, my mom is making homemade waffles. Mhmm, what a great start to a not so fun day.

The bus ride is lonely, except for the typical school drama queens, who ask me everything about my whole entire life. I answer with idk, or just stay silent. Even thought they aren't the kind that I'd be friends with, I wasn't about to let my crappy life get in my way of making friends.

The day went surprisingly fast, but I got in trouble more than once. I had been called on 3 times in chemistry, and completely spaced out each time. All I could think about was Shawn, not if I knew what page we were on in my textbook. Mr. Walsh, my chemistry teacher, assigns me lunch detention, winning him the award for the worst teacher ever. My first day and I already forgotten everything I've been told by the time lunch rolled around. 6 classes, and 1 more to go. After detention.

I stay in my seat, while everyone gets up for lunch. Mr. Walsh comes over & says he "doesn't want to be too mean", and since it is my first day, he lets me off to the cafeteria after sitting in silence for a long 10 minutes. I hadn't even made it out the door when, CrAsH! I slam straight into another person, my books falling to the floor.

"Sorry, I didn't see you there," The familiar voice chuckles to itself as I pick up my textbooks. Looking up, I am left staring into the face of Ben.

"Don't touch me!" I scream and run down the hall, and out the front door, as fast as I can. Running into the parking lot, I crouch behind a car, my breath uneven and heavy. Peaking around the corner, Ben is at the front entrance, looking around. He goes back inside and I call my mom, begging to come pick me up.
