As I entered the coffee shop, I scanned the room for Conner. I saw him in the corner, in the same spot we were at with Marcus. He must have spotted me because his eyes got wide and he went pale. Sweat dripped down his face and it looked like he was vibrating. I'm sure I probably looked the same. I tried stalling by walking slowly. It didn't work, I found myself at his shaking body in less then 27 seconds. Without saying anything I slowly sat on booth on the other side of him. I couldn't make eye contact with him, I'm afraid if I do I'll start blushing. We sat in silence until he finally spoke up.
"So.."
"Why did you call me?" He didn't say anything for a moment.
"I wanted to talk about us, the kiss..."
"What's there to talk about? It was a mistake. We were both drunk out of our minds."
"I-I thought..." his voice trailed off.
"What, what did you think?" I found anger in my voice. I bit my tongue trying to calm down.
"I thought it might mean something." His voice got small.
I felt a little bad. He looked like a small lost kitten. The way he was sitting made him look tiny and precious. His green eyes seemed to get bigger as they filled up with tears.
"Look" I brought my voice to a whisper.
"I'm dating Troye. Troye is my boyfriend. I love Troye. I don't love you. You are my best friend. I don't feel anything more. Last night, we were drunk, in a dark room, alone. What else would 2 gay guys do?"
It was quiet for a while.
"Tyler, I love yo-"
"No you don't Conner."
"Yes I do, I really do!"
"No you don't! You just think that because your alone right now and you haven't been in a relationship in a while. So you think that that kiss meant something, because you haven't done that in a while. It didn't mean anything. I don't love you, and you don't love me. That's it."
Tears were rushing down his face now. My vision went blurry, and I could tell I was also crying. He just sat there staring at the table.
I stood up and grabbed my things.
I wiped the tears off my face.
"Your in a dream right now Conner.Wake up."
I left the shop and headed home.
