Where there's Shadow, there's always Light

Chapter 9

"Shadow Darkness? Never heard of you" I said thinking whilst not taking my eyes off the shadowy figure.

"I no, that's the way I liked it. I'm a new spirit, I've taken over my father's place. He was known as Darkness, he basically controlled the light in the day and night or the darkness in corners or alley ways, or just darkness in general. He was as old as the moon, brothers with Lightness, my uncle. No one knows me because they no my father" Austo explained stepping closer. I stood my ground as I took in the information Austo had told me.

"Okay... Well then Austo, what do you want?" I asked raising an eyebrow and finally coming out of my fighting stance. I folded my arms across my chest inside.

"Oh nothing, just saw you laying on the ground, I merely wanted to chat. And if you don't remember I gave you some good advise." Austo said folding his arms too and raising an eyebrow, copying me perfectly.

"That wasn't good advice. I don't need advice, I was waiting for my friend to come back. Plus I could handle myself if anyone did try to attack me. Oh and how did you know I could talk to you?" I unfolded my arms feeling slightly uncomfortable and annoyed at this strange mysterious boy who, to my annoyance was copying me as he too unfolded his arms.

"Oh sure sure, if laying on the ground and hoping around on one foot screaming 'Ahh pins and needles' means you can handle yourself then okay." Austo imitated my earlier self using a very high pitched girly voice that did not suit him at all, and . "Oh Lillia, I knew it was you. I know a lot about you. Plus your hair and eyes are hard to miss seeming as you wouldn't have a normal person with those colours." He said dully. At that moment, Jack came shooting down from above and landed with a thud next to me.

"Ah Jack Frost!" Austo greeted with a smirk. I could hear a dark bitter end to his voice when he said Jacks name that could only suggest hatred and loathing.

"Austo" Jack said narrowing his brilliant blue eyes, that seemed to glow in the darkness, and pointing his staff towards Austo.

"Nice to see you to Frostbite" Austo answered unfazed by the iced stick pointing at him. "Well, Lillia, I must go. It was nice talking to you. Have fun with Frostbite over here. I shall see you soon, I promise." Austo smirked at me whilst Jack glared holes in the side of his head. "Bye dear Lillia....Cya around Jack" He spat Jacks name before sending me a wink and disappearing into the darkness. Jack flew forward, where Austo had disappeared, and let his staff glow in the dark, lighting the area up.

"He's gone" Jack face crunched up into a harsh scowl. "I should have iced him the moment I saw him"

"You know him?" I asked looking at Jack carefully. His head jerked towards me, his blue eyes piercingly bright and cold. He suddenly flew at me at bullet speed until his face was so close I could feel the cold emitting off his pale skin.

"What did he talk to you about? What did he say?" Jack demanded harshly grabbing my arm.

"He just said about his father and why I shouldn't be laying on the ground In the open at night" I said pulling my arm out of Jack icy strong grip and stepping back.

"That's all?" Jack asked and I nodded in return.

"Who is he? And how do you know him?" I asked again as Jack started pacing back and for, irritability tapping the floor with his staff which left ringlets of ice on the grey gravel floor.

"Its a long story. I met him years ago, we had a bit of a disagreement. We don't like each other that much." Jack muttered swinging his staff.

"Much? Seemed a bit more than much" I said raising an eyebrow.

"Okay we despised each other, he's dangerous and powerful with a thirst for evil. That isn't a good combination." Jack scowled before lightly floating over to the swings and sitting on the black plastic surface.

"What's his powers?"i asked following Jack and sitting on the swing next to his.

"He's the master of shadows and darkness, hence the name Shadow Darkness. He is everywhere and anywhere at once. Like his father, he has the capability of controlling how dark it is but his main power is shadows. He's the one that casts ery shadows down a alley way or make the corner of a room seem darker than it should, he thrives on the fear of the children in the world. He ain't good" Jack said looking at the floor. I started swinging slowly, taking in and thinking about what Jack had told me.

"He didn't seem to bad to me" I said honestly as swung back and for slowly, holding on the cold metal bars, the cold seeping into my finger tips; freezing them numb.

"Promise me you wont ever talk to him again, you see him, go the other way. He's dangerous, I don't want you getting hurt." Jack demanded looking at me with his brilliant eyes. Then I relies, everything that happened in the North Pole had been forgiven and forgotten and both Jack and I had agreed, without knowing, to be neutral. "Promise me, Lillia, promise me"

"Okay I promise" I mumbled kicking a small stone and watched it bounce and twirl across the grey floor, landing not far from where it had originally been. There was silence then, both Jack and I had nothing to say so we just sat there and listened to the sounds of the night.

That was, until Tooth came bombing into the park, a terrified look across her pattiet beautiful face. She fell to the floor in front of us, panting heavily.

"Tia!" I jumped off the swing, speeding towards Toothia's small form, leaving the swing rattling in all directions. Jack followed after me with a confused and worried look washed on his face.

"Tia, you okay Tia?" I asked grabbed the fairy and holding her in my arms, she was shaking and mumbling stuff into my shoulder.

"Tooth, whats happened?" Jack asked from behind me, a nervous glint in his voice. Tooth pulled back from my embrace, looking back and for from me and Jack with shimmering eyes. She rapped her arms around her chest.

"It's about Nick" Tooth muttered.

"What about him?" I asked getting very worried.

"The North Pole, it's been destroyed"

I no i'm evil for leaving this as a cliff hanger..MAWHAHAHA ;)

Sorry for the slow update..iv been really busy, have loads of GCSE exams to revise for ..its been stressfull

the next update will be about 2 weeks or so, if I cant get it done today. I will try my best to update as quick as possible for you lovely people.
