Legends at Midnight

(I will be taking character requests. Hope you all enjoy this book!)

Prologue

"Midnight. Why are you up?" The Orphanage Caretaker, Mrs. Sweet, asked me.

I blinked at her with a bored look on my face, "I'm going out to catch a Pokémon, and you can't stop me." I've always been very rebellious, even if I was "Emotionally Troubled".

Mrs. Sweet smiled at me, "My dear, you shouldn't be going outside by yourself at night."

I rolled my eyes at her, "I'm going wether you like it or not."

Mrs. Sweet just chuckled, "Alright Dear. You can go out. But I'll go with you. You can borrow my Honchkrow, alright?"

I nodded and took the Honchkrow's Pokéball. We walked into Viridian City and into the grass. A wild Sneazel jumped out at us.

I sent out the Honchkrow and realized I didn't know any of it's moves.

I let out an unsure command. It was a flying type, so, "Honchkrow use... Er, Wing Attack!"

The Sneazel was knocked back and Mrs. Sweet gave me an empty Pokéball, "Now throw this at it."

I nodded and threw the ball at the Sneazel, catching it.

I picked up the Pokéball and smiled for the first time in nine years, "I caught a Sneazel!" I said happily.

Mrs. Sweet turned me around and I expected to see her smiling like me, but instead she had a very sad and serious look on her face, "Now listen closely midnight."

I nodded, and she continued, "When we get back you need to grab your things."

I tilted my head, "Why?"

"You'll understand later."

We got back and I did as instructed and grabbed my things. It really wasn't much. My belt with an Umbreon Tail in the back, my head band with Umbreon ears, my small night black wallet with 200 Pokébucks inside, my black jeans and v neck t-shirt with a red collar, and a silver moon shaped Locket. I opened it and looked at the picture of my parents. My mom had my black hair and golden eyes, while my father had my frost blue eyes and light blond hair.

I closed the locket and went to Mrs. Sweet's office.

I knocked on the door as I entered, "Mrs. Sweet?" I called out, "I have my things."

Mrs. Sweet was staring out a window, but she looked back to me, "Good you have your things packed. You just need one more thing." She pulled out a plastic card and handed it to me. It had a picture of me on it, my name at the top, and at the bottom said, "Journey Started on: July 25th, 2010."

I looked up at her, "Is this a-"

"Trainer Card?" She interrupted me, "Yes, it is Midnight. I'm sorry to say, but you can't stay here anymore."

My eyes widened, "You're kicking me out?!"

She shook her head sadly, "No Midnight. They're kicking all of us out. The Orphanage is going to be torn done tomorrow."

I gasped in shock, "They can't do that!"

Mrs. Sweet nodded, "Im afraid they can Midnight. All the orphans are being transferred to an Orphanage in Sinnoh, but I care about you too much to let you go there." She sighed, "Everyone told me never to get too attached to the children here because one day they will be adopted or will grow up. But I couldn't help myself but grow fond of you Midnight. People said that you had such a tragic past that you would never be able to recover, but you stayed strong after of your parents were killed, and I am most proud of you for that. So I'm going to give you one shot. The Orphanage Head where you're going is very cruel and strict, so I'm not going to let you stay there. So here's the plan. Tomorrow, the people from the Board of Orphans will be coming to take current pictures of you kids for your new Orphanage ID's. let them take your picture and let the doctors look at you. As soon as they are done, bolt for the Viridian Forest and hide. In a tree, bush, cave, anywhere! Make sure they can't find you. Once they give up looking for you, take the Path from Digglett's Cave to Vermillion City. I'll pack you a boarding pass to Unova, and start off there. You'll go to Virbank City, and find the Gym. Once you're in there, ask for Roxie. She's my niece, and will take good care of you. And make sure that everyday, instead of wearing those glasses of yours, wear these Contacts. They're tinted red so it will be harder to recognize you if anyone looking for you. There are sure to be wanted posters up around the regions. But you'll grow, and your appearance will change. We can write to each other if you want, and I'll send Honchkrow with you so you can tell me that you made it ok."

I nodded and hugged her, "Thanks for everything Mrs. Sweet!"
