It was cold and dark........Cassandra sneaked out of the bedroom where Zach  was finally asleep and was about to leave the house for good...To run away and be free. She began  to walk down the hallway..............The front door was so close, all she had to do was extend her hand and grab the cold brass door knob and she would be out for good.  she extended  her hands but suddenly she was  five feet away from the door.

Cassandra shook her head, confused and began  walking forward  again. With each step she
took the farther she was from the door. She  heard  their bedroom door open; Zach was standing
there with a glint of red in his eyes. Cassie  tried to run for the door, faster and faster but the hallway
kept  extending no matter how fast her legs push her forwards.

She'll never reach the door, she'll never escape.

Two large hands grabbed her waist.

"No!" she cried and tried frantically  to squirm out of his grip, but he was too strong. He dragged her to the kitchen laughing like a maniac as he pushed her away from him onto the floor and picked out a huge butcher knife from the cabinet.

Cassandra 's heart was pounding in her chest and she couldn't make her limbs move.

Why couldn't she run away?

Why did it feel as if she was glued to the floor?

Zach was stepping closer to her with the knife in his hand.

if it should come down , death is just seconds away...

"No!.............No!! No!!! she shouted as she woke up with her heart pounding. She blinked a couple of
times until  her eyes adjusted to the darkness of the room.

Alas!!!!!.................It was just a dream..................

Pushing the blanket away , she slowly sneaked out of bed and wrapped her naked body up with a robe on the floor. Zach had  forced himself on her the previous night so she wasn't very happy with him. She  slowly  opened  the door and shut it softly behind her. She just needed
to be away from him for a little bit.

The house was eerie at night with all the lights off...The warmth from the house was all gone. she  Switched on the lamp in the living room . She nervously glanced at their bedroom door but Zach was
still sound asleep. She  grabbed  the remote and switched on the TV.  A loud commercial came
through the house and she  frantically fumbled  with the remote
until she turned  the volume down to a very low level. She  checked the time on the TV and
found  that it was about five in the morning.
She sighed  and figured that she won't be going back to bed so she got up and sneaked back into
their bedroom to pick out  clothes for the day. She picked out a loose, comfortable T-shirt and an
old pair of jeans before she slowly walked  out of the room shutting the door softly behind her.

The carpet in the hallway granted  her silent entrance to the bathroom.
She  took off her robe and before getting into the shower she took a quick peak into the
mirror............... Riding along her rib cage there was a long bruise - about the size of two softballs -
that was a deep brown color in the middle and around the edge.

Cassandra gently brushed  her petite fingertips along the bruise and slightly flinched at the pain it caused her . She sighed  and got  into the shower, letting the hot water wash over her. Letting it wash away the bad memories of last night.................................Letting it wash away the pain on her side............................Letting all the bad thoughts and memories slip easily and effortlessly down the drain. She  closed her eyes as the water washed down her body, as it soaks her  hair with the  highlights. She  grabbed  a chunk of her hair and looked at it. She missed her old plain hair without the layers and highlights. This  just wasn't her. She was a plain girl who didn't like to spend money on such frivolous things like expensive new clothes that would be outdated in less than a month and a new hairstyle that was too girly and too much effort.
