Sweat dripped from my head, my hands began shaking and I shot up, looking around the pure white room. My head darted around to all the corners of my small confine, bed, table, pictures, window, door...
I got up and ran, taking only 1 second to realize I had no shoes but it didn't matter. I ran straight out the door my eyes wild with terror from the drastic change of scenery and the vivid memory of the hellish storm. I continued to run, through any door I found and down the longest hall ways. I just ran until someone found me. Their face softened to sympathize with my fear.
"Shh, it's okay. Follow me back to your room and we can explain everything. I promise. We don't want to hurt you, we're only trying to help."
I breathed heavily before shouting at the girl,
"No just let me leave!"
"We can't do that. We need to check your vitals and your overall Heath before you leave this building. Plus, I'm sure you'd like to know what's happened?"
A small smile crept up onto her face. Still, I just shook my head before once again screaming
"Leave me alone!"
And continuing to run, anywhere down the Long white corridors that seemed endless and maze like.Eventually I found the door out of this white building. I knew the girl had called for backup because they kept trying to corner me to talk to me more about how they were helping and if I wanted them to explain. No, I didn't. I thought It would've been clear, I wanted them to leave me the fuck alone.
I slammed the door open and I stepped back because of the blinding sun and the heat that engulfed me. But that was a mistake...
"NOW!"
The same girl screamed from earlier, I spun my head round only to see a needle leaving my arm.
"The fuck was that for!? Jesus Christ guys, really!?
I knew they were trying to calm me, sedate me with chemicals. So I fought it. When my hands had no grip I forced them against a brick, desperate to gain it back. My legs threatened to collapse so I ran. I tried my hardest but it wasn't working, I was being forced into submission and I resented it. Now I was a helpless heap of skin and bones on the floor. My words my only defense but even they began to slur and mix up.
"Shit..."The same girl from earlier walked over with the others following behind her. She spoke softly and slowly. Allowing my drugged brain to understand her words.
"Look, I am very sorry for what this came to, I really am and I appreciate how you must be feeling. But we have to check your health and explain your circumstances. Nether of which we can do when your out here or running around the building terrified. I'm sorry."
My eyes closed again, but not from pain. From the drugs that pumped round my veins.~~~~~~~~A few hours later ~~~~~~~~
I sat up propped against a stack of 3 pillows. She spoke to me calmly filling me in on lost details.
"You were in that storm. We have all been waiting for you to make it to our island, but when the storm came we didn't know if you make it so we kept a really close eye on you. That's why when you got dragged under again and again we ran out to get you. You had already passed out so we just carried you back into the hospital. Then when you didn't wake up for another 2 days we got really worried. We drip fed you because our head nurse, Sadie, said that we didn't know if you'd eaten any fish or whatever you may have found. Apparently you hadn't!" She said laughing,
"You took 2 bags in a hour. Very impressive... What's your name again? I think I forgot I'm so sorry!"
The words hurt, I know she couldn't have meant it she was a really nice girl, they all were. Even Sadie, though she stuck me with needles... My eyes welled up so I shifted my gaze to the ceiling and squeezed them shut. I wasn't going to cry, not now.Sadie then began to speak to me, her voice soft and comforting.
"Look it's okay! We've all had it shh, it's okay it's okay..." She hugged me at the same time. It was gentle but still tight enough to feel the pressure of her arms pushing against mine.
"R-really? You all had...this...?" I choked out. Tears still filling my sight.
"Well not as extreme as the storm but yes. As long as you can't remember anything personal but everything logical? Yep!" She smiled as she finished. Obviously thinking it wasn't appropriate to be laughing at my despair she changed her demeanour,
"But it totally sucks, your handling it very well considering the circumstances." Her face dropped into sympathy. Her forehead squished and eyes low set.
The girl with long hazel hair with matching eyes, the same one who found me first, Spoke up. She seemed important as they all whipped their heads round to listen.
"Everyone picks their own name here. You have until next week to choose, that's when you'll be allocated your new role as well as all the official stuff." She looked right into my eyes,
"Until then, you go by Dreamer."
"Dreamer?"
"You get it soon enough." They all smiles at me and left. 'Dreamer...' I thought. There you go! The chapters will be longer from now on seeing as there is more to write about now she made it to the island. You guys are all great and y'know food for thought, why do you think she's been called a Dreamer? : )
