Chapter six

Jackie’s POV

I woke in the morning with a throbbing headache and looked around the unfamiliar room; I started to freak out until I heard a familiar voice beside me.

“It’s alright angel, you’re safe” Alice said quietly and sat beside me on the bed.

“Where am I?” I asked weakly

“At my house, how are you feeling” Alice asked

“I’m fine” I said uncertain of wether I was or not.

“Um... What happened to me Alice?” I asked after a few minutes of silence

“What do you remember?” Alice asked in reply

“Well I remember getting lost, then pain in my head, and then darkness and voices, that’s all I remember though” I replied

“ALICE!!!” we hear someone call from downstairs

“We’ll talk later, ok?” Alice said as she got up and left the room.

I was in the room left to my thought and trying to remember what had happened to me after getting lost…

Alice’s POV

I walked down the stairs and into the lounge to find Edward standing there fuming, I know he read my thoughts and knows that I considered telling her but I didn’t care.

“You know how dangerous it is just her being here you can’t possibly be thinking about telling her about us and about what happened!” Edward said

“Well you already know I am and you also know you can’t change my mind, so why are you trying?” I argued

“Yeah I know I just hope you have a plan, and you can’t say I didn’t try to warn you, look just be careful ok?” Edward conceded with a defeated look on his face.

“Don’t worry I have a plan, I’m just going to find out what she remembers first then work from there.” I said reassuringly

“Hmm... Fine” Edward sighed

I walked back upstairs to find Jackie lost in her thoughts, I approached the bed slowly hoping to not disturb her thoughts, as I got closer she jumped and looked at me I couldn’t help but laugh at how cute and innocent she looked lying there.

“Why did you scare me like that and why are you laughing at me?” she huffed pouting

“I didn’t want to disturb you so I was trying to be quiet, do you think you can walk I want to show you something?” I asked hopeful she could I didn’t want to Edward to hear our thoughts when I spoke to her.

“Um, I don’t know, can you help me up?” she asked, cringing a little as she tried moving.

“Sure we’ll take it slow” I said as I approached the bed

I gently held her hand and helped her to sit up; she sat there for a minute grasping her ribs and cringing a little, I sat down next to her with my arm around her back until she was ready to try and stand, she took a deep breath and swung her legs over the edge of the bed, I stand up and hold her hand again she takes one more deep breath and I lift her up onto her feet.

“Ok just give me a minute” she said trying to catch her breath

“Ok tell me when you’re ready” I reply as she leans on me for support.

“Whoa…,” she said with shock evident on her face

“What’s wrong?” I ask worried

“You... You are really cold” she said looking me up and down

“Um…” I took a few steps back forgetting that she was leaning on me, she fell towards the floor and using my speed I stopped her from hitting the floor.

“And you are really fast!” she breathed heavily as I helped her back up right.

“I… I think we should talk in private” I said to her before she could find out anything else about me.

I helped her get down the stairs and out the back door as I walk past Jasper he gives us both a pained look as he felt her pain. Once we finally got out the back door I picked her up and ran to my most favourite spot in the woods. I slowed to a stop in the middle of a clearing that had a water fall as its central feature.

“Whoa… this place is beautiful!” Jackie exclaimed once she had looked around.

“Yeah, this is my favourite place here, its peaceful and quiet perfect for thinking.” I said as I put her down on the softest part of the grass.

“So what are you?” she asked as I watched the waterfall as I did countless times in the past

I continued staring at the waterfall until I couldn’t stand the silence any longer…

“I… I’m not what you think I am” I said hesitantly looking at her watching her expression change from happiness to understanding to fear then nothing, no expression, no fear, no sadness, no happiness, just blank. I looked down at the ground unsure of what to feel myself.

“Then what are you” I heard finally after a few minutes of complete and consuming silence,

“Now’s not the best time.” I just simply reply

“Ok when you’re ready to tell me, um Alice….” She trailed off looking nervous towards the end

“Yeah?” I questioned wondering what she was so nervous about.

“Well I… I um I really like you…..” she blushed

“Well I like you too” I said back a huge smile on my face.

We sat for a while in silence until she yawned, then I carried her back all the way home and to the bed.

“Goodnight angel” I said quietly

“Goodnight, Alice” she replied with a yawn then drifted off to sleep.
