Chapter 5

I was lying down on the bed quietly while the nurses were trying to tend to my arm. I noticed that there was a lot of blood. Then suddenly, they poured something onto the wound on my shoulder and I moan out in pain. What the hell was that?! I just shut my eyes tightly.

I still had my eyes closed when I feel someone take a hold of my hand and begins to rub my palm. "How do you feel?" the person asks and I recognize that the voice belongs to Rien.  I open my eyes and look at Rien. I saw that he was smirking. I shook my head at him and say in a sarcastic tone, "I am feeling fantastic."

Then the nurse puts more stuff on my shoulder and I grit my teeth.

He chuckles lowly at my sarcastic tone, "Good, that means you won't lose your hand. You can grip my hand if you can't bear the pain." he teases but then he turns immediately worried, "Did the strigoi bite you again?" he asks me.

I shake my head and say, "Nup, he didn't get a chance."

I see another nurse make her way towards my shoulder and I look at her. She looks back with an apologetic face and pours some liquid onto the wound. This stung more than before, so I actually grip Rien's hand.

He rubs my hand calmly and says, "I'll treat you to ice cream after this." Then he grins, "Hell, I'll even buy you balloons if you want."

I slightly laugh at him and say, "Ice cream would be nice." then I smile at him.

After the nurses were done treating my arm, I try to sit up. Once I was able to sit up, I got off the bed and then began to head over to Kat's bed still holding Rien's hand. I feel him slip his hand around my waist as we walk. With every step I took, I winced from the pain.

When we got to Kat's bed, Nikolai was there and was talking with a nurse about sucking venom out of Kat. "I could do it..." I offered. Then Rien looks at me and says, "No you don't... I'll do it... besides I was an ex-strigoi." he then smirked. He then went over to Kat and began to suck the venom out.

I just stood in my place, shocked. I look at Rien worriedly and whisper, "Rien..."

Few moments later, Rien pulled back and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. I continue to look at him and he says, "Uhh... I'm just going to clean up..." then he leaves the room.

I watch as he leaves and then after a few seconds, I go after him. I walk around the academy looking for him. I've looked everywhere and still haven't found him. Well, I haven't looked everywhere.. I look at the forest and sigh. I head towards the forest.

After a few minutes of walking around, I finally find Rien. He was just standing there. I walk towards him and stop about a metre behind him. "Rien... Are you okay....?"

He turns around, "Micka... I... I'm sorry for not telling you all about this." he says. He glances at the light on the ground. "I think I'm going to die." he then laughs nervously.

I move closer towards him, "Why do you think that...?"

"Because... I was a strigoi before my dad brought me back. And there's a possible if I drink strigoi venom then.. I would turn back again.." he whispers. He moves closer to me and puts his hand on my cheek.

"Can you do me a favor?" he asks and locks his eyes with mine. I give him a nod.

I waited for him to say something but he didn't. He pulled me into a tight hug and I was shocked again. I got over the shock and hugged him back. He whispers, "Thanks.." and then he flinches. I hug him more tighter when I felt him flinch.

Moments pass and we pull away from each other. Then Rien asks, "Am I dead?" I look at him and smile, "You aren't dead!"

He gapes and then pulls me into another hug. Then he pulls back and looks me right in the eyes. "I think I'm falling in love with-.." he was cut off by a scream.
