Chapter 4

Maya gasps and I sit down at the table. She sits across me and says, "Micka... I'm so sorry..." I look at her with a small smile and say, "It's... not that big of a deal! There's bound to be a cure. And... you don't need to apologize, you didn't do anything wrong."

She put a hand on my shoulder and says, "We'll find a cure... I swear to you Micka... We will find one..." I smile brightly at her.

I need to get my mind off this. What to do...

I ask Maya, "Hey Maya, do you wanna spar?"

Her eyebrows knit together for a moment. "You sure you'll be okay...?"

I nod with a smile on my face, "Yeah, I'll be okay! So what do you say? Wanna spar?"

She jumps up from her seat and then stands in a ridiculous fighting stance. "Oh, you are so on!" she says with a smile. I laugh at her, amused. "Are you sure you wanna spar in the cafeteria?" I ask. She relaxes her stance then she points dramatically to the cafeteria exit, "To the gym!"

"To the gym!" I repeat. Then I grab her gently by the arm and pull her towards the gym.

Once we got to the gym, I spotted Rien training. I didn't want to disturb him so I didn't say anything to him. I pull Maya towards a mat and then let go of her arm. "You ready?" then I got into a fighting stance.

"Okay, Micka. I'm not going to hold back, just to warn you" She then grins at me playfully and I smirked at her, "Okay then, I won't hold back either." Then I made the first move by throwing a punch aimed at her shoulder.

She blocked the punch and tried to trip me. I dodged her and tried to trip her just like what she had tried to do to me. She jumped in the air, avoiding my attack then tried to punch my shoulder. I moved just in time to dodge the blow.

I aimed a kick at her arm and I got her. She tried to trip me again, she was able to make me stumble but not fall.

Then suddenly, she cried out in pain. My eyes widen and I felt guilty. I go to her and say, "Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! Are you okay?" I looked at her, waiting for an answer. Then suddenly I was knocked off my feet.

I fall and land on my back. I blink at her, surprised.

She let out a victorious laugh and she leaned over me, "Sorry Micka, I just had to do that"

I look at her for a while and then smile, "That was so... AWESOME! I never expected it! That was cool! No need to apologize! That was an awesome strategy!"

She burst out laughing, she was even rolling on the mat. "That means I win" I laugh with her and say, "Yeah, you win! But I want a rematch!" Then suddenly it felt like something punched me in the stomach, hard. I wince slightly from pain, but keep smiling.

Maya was done laughing and she was catching her breath. I felt the pain again and I pulled out the container that held the pain killers. I pop two pain killers in my mouth and just swallow them.

I smile at Maya and say, "So what do you wanna do now?"

She frowns slightly at me and says, "Hmmm.. perhaps we should head to the library.." then she whispered, "To see if we can find anything about that cure?"

I nod and then Rien comes over to us. We look at him and I asked Maya, whispering, "Should I tell him...? He is our friend after all...." She nodded quickly and whispered back, "Yes, of course. He needs to know..." she then gave me an encouraging smile.

"I can hear both clearly, " Rien says and I'm pretty sure he just rolled his eyes at us. "Just tell me already." he demands.

I look at Rien and say, "There's... poison in my blood and there's no cure yet..."
