Dont Turn on the light

Chapter One

I sit on the couch waiting for dad to get back from work. I'm so excited about going to my Nana's. As soon as dad gets home, my sister and me chuck our stuff in the boot and get in the car. Dad laughs at how excited we are.  It's going to take forever before we get to her house.

I look out the window to the dark world. I can see a light up ahead; oh it's only a car. I look around again like in those sad movies and see a young girl under a tree, I might just be tired. Yeah that's it, tired.

I wake up what feels like 1mintute later in fact 2 hours. Nana comes running out of the house.

 "Quick come inside, it's going to start raining soon"

We all grab our stuff and run inside.

As usual it smells like melted chocolate and cakes and bread in her house. Her house is tiny but very lovely. As you walk in the lounge room is on the right and there is a brick wall separating the front door and the lounge room. If you head straight, there is the dining room and to the right of that is the kitchen. We all head left to the bed rooms. You enter the hall and first door on the left is my Nanas and Pa's room. You walk to two steps forward and there is a door way that breaks into three rooms, on the left is the bathroom, in the middle the toilet and on the right the laundry where there is a door that leads outside. You walk a bit more and there is a room with a double bed that's my Dad's room. Then at the end on the left is our room then on the right is Nanas sowing room. I almost forgot at the end next to the lounge room is a computer area. Also next to that is a door.

To continue on with the story, we just went straight to bed being so tired. The next morning we woke up. It was such a beautiful day so my sister and I went out to play with the new dog they got. His name is Peanut. Then it got weird, the weather weirdly became all stormy so we ran inside with the dog. That night i couldn't get any sleep and ended up getting up. Everyone was up and all watching a scary movie. They give me the creeps. We all fell asleep on the couch and chairs.

I decided to check my e-mails, check what my friends were up too. I got one of those stupid chain mails. You know, you will die if you don't send this to 10 people. Wait, this one is different, it's not in English.  It reads

Dear reci

Familia tua week moriturus si hoc mitto dont I personam.

Sender Unknown

I had no idea what it said so I put it in google translator. It reads.

Dear Receiver,

Your family will die this week if you don't send this too 1 person.

Sender Unknown

I laughed and deleted it. What a joke.

That day was so weird, lots of things began to fall when nobody touched them. It was starting to get freaky but being in the country I thought it could be just the wind. I decided I would make a journal of all the things that had been happening. I hid it under my mattress so nobody could find it. I was so tired that night that I went to bed early but first I had a shower. I turned on the light and it flickered.

Man I hate those flickering lights there so creepy.

I have a quick shower and hope into bed. What a day.

I wake up in the middle of night. I can still hear the TV going, but I just head to the toilet. I can still hear the TV at 12 in the morning, I decide to go down to look, I see pa asleep on the couch. I head back and wash my hands and hop into bed. Hours later I wake to a scream. It was my Nana. We all rush to the lounge. There is Pa laying there dead and written on the TV in blood, aren't you glad you didn't turn on the light. I realize that he wasn't asleep but in fact dead.

We phoned the police and they weren't here till 2 in the afternoon. They took his body and said that if the murder was here they are gone now. He reminded us to lock all windows and doors and not leave spare keys out. Nan goes to get them from in the plant but they aren't there. They call a lock smith but they can't get here till tomorrow. Nan said she'd pay 200 extra and they said they will be there in 30 minutes. We all sat there with tear stained tops and puffy eyes. They finally got there and changed all the locks on the windows and doors. Nan was the only one with keys.

Nan started looking for a house in the city. A little apartment that was big enough for her and our family. We wanted to make sure Mum was okay so we called the house she answered straight away. Dad told her to stay where she was and she would be safe. I was so scared, everyone was.

I decided to take my mind of things I would play some game on the computer. When there was a phone call. It was for me. I said hello. "I told you to send it or your family dies. One by one. I burst into tears as they hung up.

"Mum we need to get out of this house" My dad said as he comforted me. 

"Yes I know." My Nan looked worried.
