Lauren's POV
After my softball practice I rushed back home to meet Camila at the tree house, luckily Chris finished his practice a little bit early than mine, so I didn't have to wait for him.
That tree house was built by my Dad and Chris a few summers ago in our backyard. At six o'clock, I climbed up and Camila was already there, we felt we deserve a break so we stayed there. It didn't seem possible that we had so much homework already, but we had.
We lay on the wooden planks of the tree house, half trying to get our heads around the amount of work we had to do, half watching Chris and Shawn (Chris' best friend) toss a soccer ball back and forth.
"I can't believe they come home from soccer practice and play soccer." Camila said and I smirk. We were on our stomachs, our chins resting on our hands. After that, we watched Chris and Shawn in silenced.
"I cannot get over how hot Shawn Mendes is." Camila spoke up again.
I would be lying if I said that didn't hurt me. I looked down for a second and eyed Shawn lazily. He and Chris were both wearing shorts and no shirts, and their skin was shiny with sweat. Shawn has a beautiful face.
"I still remembered our moment." Camila continued. I was glad to be pulled out of my thoughts.
I groaned. "Are you still talking about that run you guys did? Camz, that was, like, a month ago." I told her annoyed, and she just shrugged.
I must have been the only one at school who didn't think Shawn Mendes was God's gift here in Miami. He'd moved here from Canada the summer before his sophomore year, and immediately made varsity soccer. He's every girl's top ten list. He and Chris started hanging out a lot since then. And the idea that Camila might be falling for him was unbearable for me.
I rose to my feet and lean on the tree house window and stared into the leaves of the tree.
"Camz?" I called,
"Mmm?" she answered,
"What do you think I should do?" I asked, she looked at me confused.
"About what?" she asked yawning, signalling me that she wants to rest.
"About my life." I said simply, and she looked at me carefully.
"Well, what do you love?" she asked quietly.
"You." I answered immediately.
I was expecting her to laugh at me, but she didn't. After a minute, I looked over at her. Her eyes were closed, and she was breathing rhythmically. I nudged her with my foot, but she didn't stir. She was really asleep.
I sat down , wrapping my arms around my legs, thinking about what Camila had asked. It was too embarrassing to admit the truth, like confessing you loved someone who won't love you in the same way back.
I looked at her and kissed her cheek, "I hope someday you'll recognize the love I have for you... I love you, Camz."
