"Bye dad."
His stern face loosened a bit as he advised, "Work hard, party hard," and he engulfed me in a hug that I haven't had in years.
"Okay, 30 days." I smiled as I got back to my new car, as I drove off I popped my head out the window making my long blonde hair whip around me.
"Eyes on the road!" They yelled in sync and I chuckled to myself, wondering if I'd be able to keep this car for at least half a year. Probably not.
"Okay..." I mumbled to myself, "Music..." I began flicking through my iTunes, I couldn't help but play 'Life Is A Highway'. Of course, I blasted it out and took the roof off my car for everyone to hear, it's a necessity. I got some judging glares but I'm so hyped I don't mind.
Apparently, some people are super anxious but I don't understand how anyone could though because I mean, it's just Uni. What's there to worry about, forgetting homework?
That's crazy.
"Turn left in 1 mile, then take the second exit. Then you've reached your destination." My phone instructed.
Without hesitation I got straight out my care, locked the roof on and fixed my sunglasses to the top of my head. Okay: black skinnies, green V-neck and jacket - I'm good to go.
I carried my first bags over to reception, they asked for my name as expected.
"Will Bloom," I replied adjusting my hair which was caught under the strap of my over-night bag.
"Room 777," she paused to shove a leaflet and card into my chest and yelled, "next!"
I murmured to myself, "777, first block on the left... Third floor..." I swiftly made my way up the stairs, skipping a step each time. Humming 'Sweet Home Alabama', k swiped the card down and the door instantly opened. Swinging wide, the thick wooden door revealed a room with three beds, none in which had been taken.
Three people in one room seems like too much, there must've been a mistake. I thought I was having my own room, I guess this is okay though. Strangely, I've never had to share a room and the idea seems totally alien but I think I'm cool with it.
The three simple beds were laid out next to each other, with a small squat table between them, there were two windows which over viewed the car park and on the other side of the room three wardrobes.
It's quite a big place actually, it's just that all the furniture seems to be in small clumps; I could and should rearrange this place. It needs a colour scheme other than yellow and more yellow, you know I think my hair has a wider range of colour than this.
After ten or so minutes of light weight lifting, I got a little peckish so left my now slightly better room. My roomies - that may not exist - haven't arrived so I guess I'll go alone which is actually great because I won't get held back.
As I was stroking around campus, I saw people lugging bags taller that themselves, the body builders that thought they were harder than everyone else and girls obviously prancing around trying to make good first impressions. Usually, I'd just find that all funny or I'm just embarrassed for them but for some reason I think it's kind of reassuring this time, something that will never change.
The familiar cliques can easily be seen already, I followed a group of quiet boys and girls until they passed what I hoped was the canteen.
Even though the dust on the double doors seemed a little out of place, I rattled them until they gave in. Turned out that what I thought would be a huge dinning room was just a small room, one small light shined towards a glass case with something small inside. Taking a risk, I took a couple light hops to take a closer look. As I inspected the mystery, I found myself wanting to know more.
It was a pendant made from silver, probably, and had what looked like a flower made of crystals. There were silver leaves which then spiralled underneath the clear gems. It was truly mesmerising. But what is it? Who's is it? It's a weird thing to have hidden in a small dark room, is it some sort of sports trophy?
"Excuse me, this is off limits, sorry."
I abruptly spun around, biting my lip as I racked my brain for excuses. I noticed how casual the woman was, which is surprising.
"No I'm sorry, Miss, it won't happen again." I apologised then stood in silence and she smiled.
"Don't sweat it, no one knows what it is or who's it is, but whenever we try to remove it, it never works. Maybe it's fate, who knows!" She smiled again and just left. After she was far gone I got out my phone, snapped a shot of it and quickly left, slamming the doors behind me.
"Where was I?" I asked myself, searching for something that could give me a clue about where I was. Yet again, my surroundings weren't familiar and so I followed a new group of people to try and find my way to the canteen. This time, my guides were all girls, I knew most of them were going to be the slutty, cheerleading, mean-girls of the school that didn't mind showing a heck of a lot of skin. I'm not sure if I like that or not...
"C'mon girls, the party tonight's gonna' get us all fucked, right?" The skinniest girl in the middle who seemed to be leading the group commenting as she slammed open the doors into the canteen. She had bleached blonde hair and ripped shorts that almost weren't there. I wanted to kiss her but punch her in the face at the same time, actually screw liking her - I really despise her. Already.
