The Day Of The Festival (The Next Day)
I woke up to the sound of the birds chirping outside my window. I looked outside my window seeing everyone was still happily working outside. I stomped my fist on the ground and yelled,"Ryūketsu!"
"Yes, Master." My necklace started glowing red as Ryūketsu spoke.
"Why is everyone still standing?" I asked, bursting full of anger.
"Even if I used more of your blood and sped up time, this is the fastest I can go. If I go any quicker, you will perish. Chaos will start after nightfall. The first sign is an explosion in the village. And that's your queue." My necklace stopped glowing since there was a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"The First and Second Princesses", they answered. "Can we come in?" I ran to the door and opened it. Yep, it was them. "There's a festival in the village that the whole Royal family has to go every year. It's in a couple of hours." One of them gave me a decorated box. "This will be what you're going to wear." She smiled. I opened the box seeing another huge, heavy kimono. "Is it.. ok?"
"Yeah, its fine. Thank you. I'll be down in a sec." I was about to change but thought about what would happen tonight. "I think I should wear something underneath which I can actually move around in." I put on an outfit and topped it off with the kimono. I hid my weapons underneath, tied my hair up and walked outside. I saw Kazuki stand at my door startling me a bit. An image of what happened last night popped in my head. I wasn't embarrassed but I just can't believe he could face me.
"If the kingdom goes down, I go down with it." He placed something at the back of my hair. "But you're gonna have to run, promise me that." He smiled.
"This is goodbye, I'll say it before I disappear." We walked down the stairs and into the village. It was beautiful and really ancient, the cherry blossoms made everything stand out. Everyone greeted us and I just smiled. The whole time, I stood by Kazuki, making the last moments memorable is better than making none. I looked at the sun, estimating that it would set in a few minutes and Chaos would start soon. I whispered in Kazuki's ear,"sorry." And in a blink of an eye, Ryūketsu teleported me to a rooftop leaving my kimono behind. I started getting my things ready and took in a deep breathe. Ryūketsu turned into a small sword just when I saw an explosion in the distance.
"The first sign, sorry everyone, it's time I leave this place." I waited for another explosion to happen but there was nothing. "Ryūketsu, how am I gonna escape like this?" I asked. He didn't answer so I called again,"Ryūketsu!" Just then, the huge walls started crumbling. It broke down into pieces and before we knew it, we were surrounded.
"This is what happens when you speed up time. The number of people who are about to destroy this place is more than I thought. If you use me to get a one way ticket out of here, you will die. You've used too much of your blood already. Using more would kill you and make everyone's deaths in vain. So listen to me and get your way into the castle using that sword Reinhard gave you. Even if you don't have me, you are a master swords woman for a reason. Prove your title by getting there unharmed. Don't just stand there. There are also people in the festival who are disguised to look like they belong here-" while Ryūketsu was talking, I looked down seeing the villagers killing each other then saw them running towards Kazuki. Without thinking I jumped off the building and murdered the villagers.
"Jan, what are you doing?" He asked.
"They we're gonna die anyways." I held I his hand and started running. "We have to get back to the castle!" When we reached there, I closed the huge doors shut and blocked them with everything I could find. "The plan failed, ughhh, if I don't get out of here alive... everyone's deaths would've been in vain." I paused for a sec then turned yo Kazuki. "Is there any other escape route in the castle that we can use?"
"Not that I know of." The doors started crumbling. "Crap, this is getting worst by the second." He pulled out a bow and arrow and aimed it at the door. I pulled out my sword and prepared for what was gonna come through the door. The doors opened but seeing the person who opened it made me react and stopped Kazuki's arrow. "What was that for? I had him!" I shook my head in denial. "He isn't an enemy." I replied. "He's a friend."
"Jan, we've got to get out of here!" Ran held my hand and started dragging me. I stopped him and asked. "What about Kazuki?" He sighed and replied. "All the people here were cursed a few days ago. The only person who knew about it was Kazuki. They were cursed not to leave this place when the kingdom was invaded. So Kazuki lied about everything. He knew this would happen."
"But... even so... I think I'm slightly love sick." I cried. "That's why... I don't want to leave without him!"
"Jan, it's ok. This is goodbye." Kazuki smiled.
"I'm sorry to do this but you gave me no choice." He took my sword placing it back in it's sheath as his Imperial Arm activated. He held me up and flew away. "Just face it, Jan. You're the one who wanted him dead in the first place. I can tell. The best love always ends in a tragedy, not that I'm saying that relationship was the best." My tears stopped and I gave him a smile. "I'll get over it, cause I've still got you." I could see him blushing a mess of red making me giggle a bit. "Thanks Ran. For coming to my rescue." He paused for a sec looking at my hair. "What is it?" I reached for some sort of... hair piece and pulled it out. "Kazuki... gave this to me."
