So first off, can I just say, my idiot of a cousin just insulted one of the most popular bands out there right now. Nice going Dylan. But now- now said band is walking with us to McDonald's. What are the fucking chances?
"So, how come you guys didn't scream when you saw us like everyone else?" Michael looks over at me from his right.
"Maybe it's because we aren't like everyone else." I reply looking over at him with a light smile on my face. "Just because we're fans doesn't mean we have to alert the whole nation to your whereabouts."
"Well thank you for that. It's nice to have a decent conversation with fans. It's almost like we're 'normal' people." Ashton finally speaks up in our conversation.
"You guys are normal. Just well known and loved is all." Dylan pipes up from Calum's left.
After that's said, we continue walking in a comfortable silence with my music playing lightly in the background. That's when I heard it. The first chords of Green Day's 'American Idiot'. Dylan and I look towards each other with small smirks spread across our faces. I look back down at my scuffed combat boots and tuck a piece of my blue bangs back into my beanie before I start to hum along to the song. After a few seconds, I hear the boys and Dylan hum along as well.
Not too long after that, we're walking down the street belting out the lyrics. Ashton and I are air drumming while the others are rocking out on their air guitars. By the time the song ends, we're already in the parking lot of McDonald's in a totally fit of laughter and giggles. When we walk into the restaurant, we get stares from the employees. Some of their eyes widen at the fact that 5 Seconds of Summer just walked through the doors and Dylan and I just look at each other and shake our heads.
We walk up the the counter to come face to face with a flustered cashier who ends up stuttering our orders back to us. I wait with Ashton until we collect our food and go to the farthest booth. I can tell that the boys are feeling a bit uncomfortable because I can feel the stares of the employees boring holes into our heads. We make little conversation, afraid that whatever we say will be heard my the workers that are straining their ears to eavesdrop.
We eventually finish our meals and throw the trash in the rubbish bin before making our way out of the restaurant and into the cool autumn air.
