I sat where I usually sit in class, the first row of desks, almost in front of the teacher's. Most people, like the popular ones, sat further back or the middle. I tried avoiding them to focus my attention on the teacher. That didn't always work out sadly, but at least I have a place to retreat to.
My first class was Chemistry, and my partner thankfully was a fellow nerd, an outcast, named Gina. Her and I weren't exactly friends but we were closer than I usually was with people in my school. Today's assignment was to classify different groups like the hydrogen, carboxyl, etc. The teacher, Mrs. Moore, never really cared about the usual loudness that our class had, she only tended to worry when Ryan and his friends were in class. Ryan was the bad boy, the rebel, the one who blew up Mr. K's office. His best friends were Kyle Jones and Parker Wilson, and no one ever messed with them. The principal is even scared of the deadly trio.
Our class was itself, loud and rambunctious. Gina and I didn't mind, only focusing on our work. Until the deadly trio did decide to show up to class, great. Ryan's gaze landed on me immediately and a chill went through my spine. Know what's the worst part when Ryan and his friends are here? They sit behind me and taunt me, making fun of my appearance and weak mental state that I had once I entered the school. These boys were the definition of asshole and I would love beat them up, but I need to keep my appearance to remain innocent, weak, frail. But dear god I want to punch them.
"Hello nerdettes," Ryan said with a smug grin as he sat down behind us. Gina tensed up right away. She was obviously more affected by their words then myself, so in order for her not to have a panic attack, I knew what I needed to do.
"Shut up, asswipes," I muttered, but only loud enough for the trio and Gina to hear. Gina's eyes widened at me, shock covered her face. I felt the trio's hard cold stare at the back of my skull.
"What did you say nerd?" Ryan leaned over the desk to say it in my ear.
"Nothing," I reply casually, returning to my work.
"He's talking to you," Kyle said rudely. I felt my hair being stroked gently and I tense up.
"Yes, I was," Ryan said then suddenly yanked my hair. A gasp of pain erupted from my lips and I turned to face him, a smug grin on his attractive face.
"Leave me alone," I said quietly and whipped my head back to my work. Gina stares at me with admiration, because she would never be able to stand up against these boys without having her anxiety kick in.
Parker chuckled, "How about no?"
I rolled my eyes ignoring their taunts the rest of class, without hurting them once, which is good because I was almost over the edge to killing all three. I could probably get away with it too. The bell rang and Gina smiled at me, "Thanks, Grey."
"For what?" I asked.
"For standing against them, even if it was to shut them up. And they didn't taunt me. You took every taunt of theirs and ignored it," she adjusted her thick framed glasses and smiled before walking out of the room.
I smiled watching her leave taking a right, while I went out going the opposite direction. Know what also sucks when the trio decides to go to school? Ryan and Parker are in my next class. Each one of the trio happens to have a class with me; it may not be all together but they were always near by.
I had four classes until my lunch, and those classes felt like they were hours more than 50 minutes. They were restless with all their taunts. Parker even tried to break a pen to spill ink on me, but it backfired and exploded on him instead. Parker was definitely one of the duller minds in the group and I couldn't help but feel sorry. Ryan and Kyle were smarter though. They might not always show it but they were street smart and crafty. I learned to be the same whenever I became the fighter I was underground. I went to lunch alone, waited alone, and ate alone, but that didn't bother me. I preferred the quiet even though the lunch room was loud.
