"Approach the light," Theresa's voice says from the Hero Seal. Every single time she communicates from that seal it creeps me out and I jump from the sudden check ups.

"But why?" I ask her through the disc. "How about if it does some sort of weird thing to me? Or it burns off my skin or something?" I then let out a large sigh of doubt. "What if I'm not a Hero? I mean, come on, I'm blind! I'm pretty sure Heroes don't start out as blind people."

"They don't," she agrees from the other side and I jump again.

"And wouldn't it be a Heroine since I'm a girl? You know what, I'll just forget about it anyways so I'll stop the ranting before it begins."

"Step into the light," she repeats.

"Fineee, but if I die, this is all your fault. Don't try to blame it on sweet Daisy," I tell her as Daisy barks in approval. It's silent on the other side so I'm assuming Theresa had had enough of me. I slowly make my way to the light, I mean, I can't even see where the light is so I'm pretty sure I'm walking around in circles. If there are chasms in this cavern I am so doomed.

"Stop," Theresa commands and I freeze (after jumping). "You're there. This will awaken your blood."

And just as she says that I feel a shock of energy pulse through my veins, every part of my nerves bursting in pain. I clench my teeth shut as the energy bounces around as if it were drunk and thinking it could run across an sea. And thankfully it's short. The energy it still there, but it's slowed down a lot. But I'm still confused...

What the hell was that?

"Open your eyes," Theresa orders me after awhile.

I was closing my eyes? Why does that matter anyways! Has she totally forgotten the fact that I am blind. Pfft. It's as if she thinks I can suddenly see all of a sudden. No, I've always been blind, ever since I could remember. How could stepping into a beam of light can some thing that's permanent?

"You doubt me," she says with a sigh.

"Yeah, I do. There is no way possible that I am not blind."

"Just do it for me, Sparrow," Theresa says with a note of sadness.

I can't believe I'm doing this...

Heaving I huge sigh, I open up my eyelids only to shut them as quickly. For some reason I saw a color, from what Lance told me, a color. And it was bright. So bright I don't think I should open up my eyes again. But...I saw it. Color is something you can see and I saw it!

More slowly this time, I open my eyelids again. Again, there is this bright color surrounding me and I realize that I'm still standing in the light. The light, it's blindingly bright.

And I realize I can see.

I can see!

"How did this-" I begin.

"It is vital to a beginning Hero to see. You are now reborn with your awakened blood," she explains.

It's as simple as that? Just waltz up to a beam a light and poof! you can see! And all just because of being a beginner. Well I'm not a beginner, I've been fighting many years in preparation of the day when I finally meet Lucien on the battlefield.

"And since you are reborn, your morality is reset. You can also learn new abilities now that you have awakened. It's a whole new life for you, Sparrow."

"But Theresa, I don't even know if I want this. I mean, I've been blind for so long and in less than a second I can see? There must be something I must do in return."

"And you shall see what it is that you must repay by accomplishing soon."

"I understand, Theresa. Thank you for helping."

"It is no problem, my dear." She pauses as a a red floating disc appears on a nearby platform. "But for now you must learn to gain control over your will and form it into a weapon."

"Huh?" I ask, dumbfounded. Why is my will now a weapon? Is that part of being a Hero? I need a guide to being a Hero manual or something because I just started and it already is chaotic. I'm not going to write one though. Too much work and my handwriting is more of a chicken's than a human's as from what I could tell, I'll need to test that later.

"What are you talking about?"

"Inferno, Storm, Time Control, Raise Dead, Vortex, Summon Blades, Chaos, anything can bend to your will now that you are awakened. All you need is the experience of you fallen foes. You have some in each of the categories Strength and Skill, and by the simple act of reaching this place you have gained some Will experience. Choose to your liking."

"Um...I choose Summon Blades? Yeah, I want a backup for my cleaver."

"Very well."

A glowing light surrounds me again as she finishes speaking and just as she said, I could summon blades. It's sad that I can't actually wield them though...I thought I could. It doesn't matter though, my primary attack will be with my trusty cleaver, like always. And why would I need magic anyways? I don't think I'd be really good with casting spells anyways.

I summon all my 'Will' to shoot a single translucent sword which shattered against the symbol. A light glows from the platform and I step up to the plate. And I end up only to be teleported to the top of a hill crawling in beetles. Great, beetles, just what I wanted. Oh, how fantastic to see their ugly mangled shells and beady eyes.

I guess this is a good time to practice my spell.

And it wipes them all out immediately.

I think I might like using spells.

But there's no way I'm giving up my cleaver.
