"I cannot believe you kids, making me pay two gold coins for fetching important papers," the guard huffed, possibly rubbing his forehead.
"Because it's so important of course we would double it," I tell him with a devious smile. "You shouldn't have told us."
"I can't believe you changed it to two," Rose whispers in my ear. "You've been listening to all those books I found in the dumpster? I thought you were sleeping."
I turn to her voice and give her a cheeky grin. "Of course I did. If we grow up I want to be a landlord. I also want to own business. And I'll take that money and we can make our wish come true if this doesn't work like the woman said it would."
"Sparrow, you are the best little sis ever," she replies, squeezing my hand. "But isn't that a little too much?"
"You said I could do anything, remember?"
I hear a sigh. "That's when we were kids."
"But Rose..." I don't finish my sentence though. She must have been having a bad week. She's been turning a bit sour and bitter. I wonder if I did something. Knowing me, I did. I seem to have a knack for making people around me feel sad. It's not that I'm evil, it's just that they look at me with pity. And I can't stand it.
Just give me a bag of coins and watch me turn this world into my playhouse.
I'll be the best landowner ever.
Or blacksmith. I've heard about them too.
Maybe even both!
