I cling unto my older sister's cold yet warm body as we make our way to the castle. The guards surrounding us are so distant. So cold. But she doesn't seem notice. Rose is too overjoyed and overwhelmed to notice.
"Rose, don't forget about Daisy," I speak up after what seems to be an eternity for me. I feel her stop and I'm pretty sure that she is looking at me, confused as ever. The guards stop too, listening in.
"Is Daisy your sister?" one of them asks, making me squeak from the the intimidating voice. I shake my head no, clinging tighter onto Rose.
"Who's Daisy?" Rose asks now.
I shrink back as I mumble, "Our dog."
"It isn't our dog. He's a stray. I'm sure that we can't take him with us. But I'll make sure he has a home. Like we do now. We have a house, Sparrow, this is what we wished for, what we've wanted ever since our parents disappeared. We finally get a house, our wish has been heard." She repeats this several times before I zone her out as we make our way through Bowerstone Market with the guards still shielding Rose from viewing the building and scenery if there were any. I just continue walking, guilt eating me up for not listening to my sister.
"We're almost there," one of the guards announce after a long silence. I gulp as Ross squeals in joy. She begins asking the guards questions as I think to myself. Rose see,s to only care about the castle. Maybe it was all a coincidence that we were summoned when she made the wish. She's not asking herself if there was another reason Lord Farifax called us. Maybe they caught us stealing from the venders in Bowerstone market.
It's not that it's annoying that she won't get her head out of the clouds for some thing is important.
Actually I guess it is somewhat irritable.
But it's more than just that.
She keeps saying 'we' when talking to the unresponsive guards about how much she can't wait to visit the castle but really...
This isn't what I wished for.
But I can't tell her that I wished for something else.
She'll hate me.
I wished for something else.
I don't want a house.
I want something better.
