Seperation

I pocketed my phone and looked outside. It was a bit chilly, but she agreed to meet me. I walked out my place and looked at the neighborhood. Time to run. I began running through the neighborhood, searching for Emily's house. Once I found it, I stopped in my tracks. I was about to open the gates, but someone stopped me. "Caleb?" I turned around and was met by Niyah, of all people. "You. What do you want?" I asked. "Oh, just go tell you the truth," she said while looking at me in the eyes. "Truth?" I asked confusingly. "Caleb, do you know why Emily decided to go out with you?" Niyah asked me as I heard a puppy bark. It was Emily's puppy, Gracie. I ignored her and heard the front door open, then shut. Emily probably wanted to quiet her puppy. "Because she lo-" I started. "She doesn't love you. It was a scam. She loves someone else. The reason she decided to date you was to toy with your emotions, weaken you, and make her actual crush jealous," Niyah told me while grabbing my wrist. I looked straight at her, confusion in my mind. "Then, who does she actually love?" I asked. "Her best friend, Israel. The one that she always hung out with in Elementary. The one that she was crying over since she couldn't see him at Navarro. He's the one she loves. And right now, she's winning his heart, because she used you," Niyah told me, seriousness in her eyes and never cracking a smile. She wasn't kidding. I felt myself get saddened. Then, the gate door opened and Emily's dog, Ollie, sprinted out to the streets. "Ollie, no!"  She said as she chased after her dog, then bumped into me. She just simply said "Sorry Caleb." and went after her dog. "See? That's not the Emily I know," Niyah told me. "But I know someone that you would look perfect with," she added. I turned to Niyah confusingly. Then, she quickly gave me a peck on the cheek. "I actually don't use anyone," she said. I felt myself blush. "And I do need someone that's strong and smart," she added while messing with my hair. I blushed even more. "Alright, we could give it a shot," I told her. A glimmer came into her eyes and she hugged my tightly. It made me see Emily pick up her dog and walk back to her place, then once she saw Niyah hugging me, she just quickly ran past us. "Don't worry about her. She's just sad that seems won't get who she wants anymore," Niyah muttered. I nodded at her. I should've known that Emily liked Israel, it was so obvious, yet I let it slide. Since I'm not with Emily anymore, I don't need to give her what I wanted to give her. Because now, I'm making sure I don't get involved with her one bit. Because I'm starting something new, with Niyah.
